When will the game be released?

The Crust releases in early access in 2023

When can I play The Crust, is there a demo version or a closed beta test?

At the beginning of October this year we will publish a demo version in which you can try limited content. Also we periodically conduct closed playtests, in which you can try out the game mechanics without restrictions. You can sign up for the playtest on our discord server: https://discord.gg/SbEGwwkAUW

Will there be multiplayer in the game?

We have no plans to implement multiplayer before the game's release. However, in our prototypes we have ideas for the online marketplace, online contracts between players and online scoreboard, which we will implement in the DLC.

What is included in Early Access?

Early access will include all major production mechanics, production automation, conveyor logistics, orbital mining mechanics, and interaction with POIs (expeditions). The early access will also include the basic base-building and colonist management mechanics. After early access we plan to scale up the colonists' management mechanics, their skills, world interaction options, new indoor modules, new resources, and production chains. In addition, we will optimize the game even better and catch all possible nasty bugs =)
In early access, the first chapter of the story company, consisting of three chapters, will be available. As well as a sandbox mode in which you can fine-tune the starting conditions of your company and the world in which you have to play.

What is the current state of the game?

Today, the basic mechanics of the game are ready, and we are focused on creating a great tutorial that is intertwined with the game's story, and seamlessly takes the player into a mode that scales their game. We tried to create an unusual tutorial that immerses the player in the game's lore, introducing them to the events taking place and the main cast of characters. As we think it turned out pretty interesting =).
In addition to the tutorial we focused on scaling the mechanics of ore mining on an orbital level, mechanics of rooms and colonists as well as the balance of the game.

How long will the game be in Early Access?

We plan to spend no more than one year in Early Access and have it out by late 2024 or early 2025. From the beginning we didn't plan to bring The Crust to early access, but the first playtests showed a very active feedback from players. We received a lot of interesting ideas and suggestions. And now we want to test some of them on a large audience. Also we like the way the product develops in cooperation with the players. Together, we managed to create some new mechanics and weave them in an unusual way. It requires that our plans for The Crust will be on the sucker list.

How often will you be updating the game?

We are constantly working on the game and updating it several times a week, but some major updates require more synchronization and work to support previous saves, so they come out once every few weeks.

Will my progress be saved during updates?

Yes, we are trying to do updates with backward compatibility. The current readiness of the core mechanics allows for this. However, when big changes are added to the game or new mechanics are introduced, backward compatibility may not be available, we will notify you about this in our dev bloge, stay tuned for our updates.

Will the price change when the game leaves Early Access?

We've been developing the game for four years, hiring various expensive specialists and even famous actors in the process. We would like to keep the price of the product at the same level, but it is likely that after the release the price of the game will increase by 15-20%.

Can I provide feedback and bug reports?

Of course, the game has a button to write a review or description of a bug. We are very important opinion and ideas, do not hesitate to share them. Perhaps some of the suggested ideas will be implemented in a prototype or even included in the release version.

Can players add their own content to the game during the development phase?

Just you can write your name into the content of the game, create your own point of interest on the moon map, come up with your own faction, character, or a whole story side quest. Before the early access release we are going to launch a campaign on kickstarter, in which backers will be able to interact with the core team of VEOM Studio.
