Our Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced ship officers guide has all the info you need to recruit new additions to your crew aboard the Jackdaw. The Shipwright, Master-at-arms, and Weaponmaster all have their respective quests, and they also grant the Jackdaw powerful abilities in combat. How to recruit the Quartermaster - Adewale
Adewale is the first ship officer to join you in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Similar to the original game, he and Kenway meet during Sequence 02: The Treasure Fleet. You have to free several prisoners aboard ships and their cargo holds. Upon completion of this mission, Adewale will formally join your group.As the Quartermaster, Adewale has more of an advisory role while you’re sailing and the character himself does not provide any combat ability. However, at the end of Sequence 04: This Old Cove, Adewale tells you about other people that you can employ.
How to recruit the Shipwright - Lucy Baldwin
The Shipwright Lucy Baldwin, a new ship officer in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, does provide a handy ability once you have her in your group. Immediately after completing Sequence 04: This Old Cove, you’ll receive an officer quest called A Proper Shipwright. This leads to a series of side missions where you eventually unlock Lucy and her skill.- A Proper Shipwright - Head to the prison ship in Salt Key Bank and free Lucy from her cell. Upon escaping, you need to sink the British fleet that’s tailing you.
- The One With the Gun - After chatting with Lucy in your hideout in Great Inagua, she’ll officially join your crew. You then need to sail to the marked location, sinking enemy vessels until you arrive at Black Island. Once there, investigate the manor to find the will. Finally, go to Lucy’s location near the barn to watch a cutscene.
- Plantain - Edward and Lucy have a chat in Great Inagua.
- Big Wig - This mission takes place in Havana. You have to kill the barrister and his henchmen, which then allows Edward to dig up a buried treasure chest.
Rewards for recruiting Lucy: Perfect Brace and Baldwin’s Golden Pistols
You unlock Lucy’s Perfect Brace ability when she joins you in The One With the Gun. This greatly reduces the damage that your ship takes if you perform the brace action at the right time–i.e. just as an enemy attack is about to hit. Perfect Brace significantly increases the Jackdaw’s survivability, especially when you’re engaged with multiple hostiles, since it can nullify all sorts of damage, including full-on broadside blasts and mortar explosions.Later in Plantains, she’ll hand over a rare-quality firearm, Baldwin’s Golden Pistols. It has 26 range and 1.00 draw speed.
How to recruit the Master-at-arms - Padre
Another recruitable ship officer in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is known as Padre. A former pirate, Padre has renounced his life of plundering to focus on building a community and shepherding his flock. You meet him as part of a side quest called A Second Chance, which is also unlocked upon completing Sequence 04: This Old Cove.- A Second Chance - Go to the marked location in Punta del Caracol, which is due southeast of Great Inagua. Talk to Padre and help him organize a meal for the villagers.
- Loyalty, Discipline, and Courage - Padre will be hesitant at first, so you have to convince him by taking out Du Casse’s troops in Cumberland Bay. Once you’re finished with the task, return to Punta del Caracol, which has been ransacked by Du Casse’s goons. Padre then officially joins your crew.
- If Thy Right Hand Offend Thee - Padre learns that the remnants of Du Casse’s forces have holed up in Cape Bonavista, which is where you started the campaign.
- The Other Cheek - The last quest for Padre involves tracking down the nefarious Bishop Ravenscroft in Havana. Check the marked individuals and objects near the docks to learn about the bishop’s location, then finish him off along with his men.
Rewards for recruiting Padre: Ram Dash and Small Goblet
You gain the Ram Dash ability when Padre joins you at the end of Loyalty, Discipline, and Courage. This allows the Jackdaw to surge forward across the waves, dealing tremendous damage to an enemy ship that it impacts. This is great for quickly depleting a target’s hit points and, when you abruptly turn after ramming, you can follow this up with a broadside barrage. Note that you can recharge the Ram Dash ability by damaging enemies with your ship’s weapons.You also receive the Small Goblet upon defeating Bishop Ravenscroft in The Other Cheek mission. This is a rare trinket that increases the amount of healing from food, drink, and remedies.
How to recruit the new Quartermaster - Anne Bonny
Female pirate Anne Bonny, a well-known historical figure, joins your crew at the end of Sequence 11: Everything Is Permitted. She replaces Adewale, who parts with the team on good terms. Similar to Adewale, she does not grant any combat boons, though she still offers helpful hints while you’re sailing.
How to recruit the Weaponmaster - Deadman
Tobias “Deadman” Smith is the last recruitable ship officer in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Unlocking him might take a while since you need to complete Sequence 11: Everything Is Permitted and A World Without Gold: It’s a Start.- A World Without Gold: What the Devil and It’s a Start - This is an endgame mission chain in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. After tackling a few quests, you’ll get a mission called What the Devil where come across Deadman. This is followed by a mission called It’s a Start, which only becomes available if you’ve already recruited both Lucy and Padre. This is when Deadman officially joins the crew.

The first reward, Extra Salvo, becomes available when he initially joins the group in It’s a Start. This allows your broadside cannons to fire an extra time after a short delay. This means you just need to keep a hostile ship lined up nicely for the second barrage.The second reward, Deadman’s Cohort Mortar, is unlocked upon completing Very Little, But Something. It’s an alternate firing method for your mortars. It lets you fire a steady stream of bombs in a tighter area, and you can also adjust the aim. This is perfect for landing numerous explosive hits on target vessels from afar.
