Fluffy, fierce, and 99 OVR: College Football 27 brings back Mascot Mashup, with 120 to unlock

Also, you can cheer as Puddles the Duck spikes a touchdown against Hairy Dawg in the return of Mascot Mashup. Yup, we’re doing a quick dive into the most extra mode in sports gaming history. They’re so fluffy!
Mascots, with their oversized features and incredible energy, are a major part of the game-day hype. Mascot Mashup turns them into the main event. Every player on the field is that team’s mascot. You can field 11 Trees (Stanford Cardinal) against a team made up entirely of NC State's Ms. Wufs, and watch them pull off blocks, passes, and tricky, mascot-specific plays.
Every player has a 99 OVR (maxed-out stats) and special tuning, making for explosive movement, longer passes, higher leaps, and 80-yard field goals. Try doing that yourself while dressed as an elephant to see how impressive these athletes really are. It’s the perfect mode to just pick and and play.
The matches are high-octane, ridiculous battles with wild swings in momentum on a single play. And winners get to aura-farm touchdowns while dressed as owls.
Unlock them all
The game starts with ten mascots unlocked (or all 120 instantly unlocked through the MVP+ Membership). If you want to fight for your right to Sparty, the unlock path is simple: win a "Play Now" game as that team, and you’ll unlock their mascot. Possibly the greatest reward in all of sports—play a game, win, and you'll unlock Scrappy the Owl to play as, while adding a shiny new mascot to your Trophy Room
As EA’s official blog post highlights, the return of the mode is a direct thank-you to the fans:
"You told us how you wanted Mascot Mashup back. You told us there was something special about seeing school icons take the field in a mode that does not feel like anything else. We listened, and we built Mascot Mashup to honor that tradition while expanding what it can be today.
This mode is about fun, fandom, collecting, and competition. It is about giving players a place to celebrate their school, chase their favorite mascots, and create the kind of moments that only college football can deliver.
We cannot wait to see which mascots you unlock first, which rivalries you recreate, which friends you challenge, and how quickly your Trophy Room starts to fill up.
