Infinity Nikki 2.5 update: Finish the Itzaland story and explore the Boneyard region
J
Jess Reyes
It’s a particularly packed update, so there’s a lot of ground to cover, especially if you aren’t caught up with the content from Infinity Nikki 2.0. These are the key highlights to look out for in Infinity Nikki Version 2.5.

New story and quests
To recap, Infinity Nikki 2.0 introduced the start of Nikki’s adventure in Itzaland, a fully realized region outside of the starting area of Heartcraft Kingdom. Itzaland is part of the Terra Alliance, one of the “countries” in the overarching world of Miraland.
Infinity Nikki 2.5 marks the end of the Itzaland arc with Chapters 6 and 7. Most of the Infinity Nikki 2.5 limited-time events require you to complete the latest chapters because of newly introduced mechanics, so this is something to prioritize if you’re just getting back into the game.
In addition to the Itzaland chapters, Infinity Nikki 2.5 adds the Flourish of Life permanent quest series, which includes new world quests like Whispers on the Wind. The Tales of Itzaland II event storyline, separate from the main questline, splits into five chapters unlocked over multiple days and rewards players with the 4-Star Verdant Chord outfit. This is one of the events that takes place in the new Boneyard.
New areas and exploration
Boneyard
As mentioned earlier, Infinity Nikki 2.5 introduces the Boneyard, a darker-themed setting tied to the closing Itzaland story chapters. As the name might suggest, the Boneyard is a graveyard for dragons and a spiritual hub for lost souls. It’s like the Infinity Nikki equivalent of the River Styx in Greek mythology, where souls cross over to the next cycle of reincarnation, rather than an “underworld” or final resting place for the soul. Parksolians—humanoid creatures with dragon-like features—work in the Boneyard ferrying souls.
Hollowbreath Passage
The Hollowbreath Passage is a sub-area of the Boneyard mainly used for gathering Crystals of Blessing and crafting materials for Blueprints (i.e. Clothing Sketches: Ancient Remnants). Those Crystals can be traded in for rewards like Diamonds and Resonite Crystals.Be sure to watch out for Windbones, giant boulders that can flatten Nikki and reset her progress in the dungeon. You need to break these boulders with the Dragon Bone Master Ability Outfit, which unlocks shortly after entering the Boneyard.
Soul Realm
The Soul Realm isn’t exactly a “new area,” but one that exists on top of the Boneyard. You can only access the Soul Realm with the Soul Ocarina that Nikki obtains during the newly added story chapters. It has the power to heal others and guide spirits to rebirth, which you need to do during a few quests and limited-time events. The Soul Realm enables these new interactions with NPCs that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to do without the ocarina.
New Ability Outfits
The Nikki series has always been about fashion and offering players the freedom to customize Nikki with various styles and accessories. Infinity Nikki takes that one step further with Ability Outfits, which aren’t just for show. These empower Nikki with skills she can use in the open world and often have a functional purpose like allowing her to traverse previously unreachable territory or giving her access to new resources (i.e. bug catching, fishing).
Luster Covenant, also known as the Dragon Bone Master Ability Outfit, is a free story-relevant Ability Outfit unlocked in the 2.5 update. However, not all Ability Outfits are free to craft.
Infinity Nikki 2.5 also adds two 5-Star Ability Outfits that you can pull for in limited-time banners. Rather than introducing completely new abilities, these outfits offer significant upgrades to already existing abilities that Nikki can get for free. You don’t need these outfits to progress through the story or enjoy exploration, but they could be helpful to some players. Or you can just get them because they look cool. It’s up to you.
These are the two new Ability Outfits featured in the 2.5 update limited-time banners and the 4-Star outfits paired with them on the banner:
Floral Rebirth
- Main Attribute: Fresh
- Ability: Bloomlight Shadowcatcher
- Effect: Capture multiple insects at once with wider swipes
- 4-Star Outfit: Evergreen Vow - Summon a warhorse for photo ops
Guide of No Return
- Main Attribute: Sexy
- Ability: Guiding Star: Archery
- Effect: Aerial combat and multi-target arrows
- 4-Star Outfit: Heartward Hues - Interactive flame effect
Should I pull for Floral Rebirth or Guide of No Return?
As a gacha game, Infinity Nikki only gives players a limited amount of Resonance Crystals and currency to pull for these 5-Star outfits, so it’s important to budget your resources. Again, you don’t need either Floral Rebirth or Guide of No Return. Anything you “need” will be offered for free through crafting as you progress through the story. However, they do offer quality-of-life upgrades for players willing to invest in them.
Here’s my advice based on the abilities for each outfit:
- If you’d prefer farming efficiency for catching insects, prioritize Floral Rebirth.
- If you’d prefer combat utility, go for Guide of No Return.
- If you’re torn between the two equally, just go for the one with the 4-Star outfit you think looks the best.

Starlight Contest
Infinity Nikki finally has PvP. Well, kind of.
The Starlight Contest is a new competition system where you can submit your outfits and vote on ones submitted by others. It’s not just one contest, but a regularly recurring one that features a new theme with each iteration. During these phases, players will be invited to submit outfits based on rotating themes and then vote on which ones are the best. After tallying the votes for the best outfits, winners receive Diamonds and Upgrade Packs that can help you upgrade your wardrobe.
Limited-time events
Like every other update, Infinity Nikki 2.5 introduces a handful of limited-time events with additional rewards you can earn outside of story quests and other permanent offerings. You can even earn 10 Revelation Crystals just by logging in for seven days. These don’t even need to be seven days in a row, so long as it’s within the date range of the event. (It’s also a good excuse to start a daily routine for farming materials and resources.)
Here’s quick rundown of the types of events you can find:
- Lumies in the Breeze: Calm spirits and guide them home
- Hollowbreath Passage: Crystal-collecting exploration
- Ethereal Return: Guide souls to rebirth
- Soothing Songs: Heal NPCs via Soul Realm
- Long-Lost Wonders: Collect Whimstars for Card Items and Diamonds
- Rainbow-Colored Gift: Dye-related quest rewards
