The fifth and final team to join the roster for upcoming fighter MARVEL: Tōkon: Fighting Souls was announced during EVO 2026, where the game had a hands-on demo, to a packed and enthusiastic crowd of fans.

Developer Arc System Works also announced that it will be holding a global Open Beta on PlayStation 5 and PC, which will run from July 24 to July 26. Blade, a member of the newly revealed Samurai Outriders, will be available as a playable character.

The Samurai Outriders consist of Blade (voiced by Imari Williams), Ghost Rider (voiced by Giancarlo Sabogal), Loki (voiced by Jason Spisak), and Deadpool (voiced by Nolan North).

You’ll have to play Episode Mode to find out how the group grow as a team.

During the Sunday reveal, the studio also showed off a new stage: Asgard, which consists of five areas: the Observatory, Bifrost Bridge, Throne Room, Treasure Vault, and Yggdrasil, the World Tree.

Finally, Arc System Works announced they would be releasing deep dive trailers for all playable characters in the lead up to launch. The trailers will go live on the game’s official YouTube channel.
 

As for the characters, we learned a bit about each of their skills and playstyles.

Eric Brooks as Blade is at a stage in his life where he has completed his training in Japan and now wields the demon-slaying sword Muramasa. He also makes use of machine guns, and glaives. 

One of his unique abilities, Heartstopper, throws a stake that pins the opponent in place and allows Blade to close the distance at incredible speed. When it hits, Muramasa glows red, enhancing the performance of his sword-based skills.

Loki Laufeyson relies heavily on his powers of deception, but also makes use of some of his Frost Giant skills. He can create illusions to feint and counter, and uses projectices based on ice and magic.

Wade Wilson as Deadpool uses guns, grenades, and swords combined with high-risk techniques that lean into his superhuman regeneration. 

Of course, there’s always a bit of fourth-wall breaking with Deadpool. In this case, he has somehow managed to obtain a strategy guide, allowing him to deliver a mix of unique attacks from “fighting games of legends.”

Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider makes use of long-range scythes and has a Vengeance Gauge, which can power up his abilities, but also leave him vulnerable if not watched carefully.

The Amazing Guardians, featuring Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel, Peni Parker, Peter Parker as Spider-Man, and Star Lord.

The Fighting Avengers, featuring Shuri as Black Panther, Steve Rogers as Captain America, Bruce Banner as Hulk, and Iron Man.

The Knights of Doom, featuring Cletus Kasady as Carnage, Doctor Doom, Norman Osborn as Green Goblin, and Magneto.

The Unbreakable X-Men, featuring Danger, Magik, Storm, and James “Logan” Howlett as Wolverine.

In the game’s lore, the Champion of the Universe had picked Earth as the next target for the Challenge of the Champion, forcing teams of four to compete in qualifying rounds before they can try to take on the Champion himself. To prevent the Earth’s destruction, five teams are formed to compete in the tournament and stop the Champion.

MARVEL: Tōkon: Fighting Souls is being developed by Arc System Works, with an eye toward capturing a broader, more mainstream audience to the fighting genre. 

The game releases on Aug. 6 on PlayStation 5 and Windows, and includes a single-player Episode Mode as well as standard VS modes that support full cross-platform play..
