Do KWS or Epic see the personal documents that I provide during the Epic Games Store age verification process?
No, KWS and Epic do not have access to the credit card details, banking information, ID documents or selfies you provide as part of the Epic Games Store age verification process.
What safeguards are in place to protect user privacy?
KWS partners with third-party providers to offer multiple privacy-preserving age verification methods. Below are the providers and some of the privacy protections that are in place for each.
Yoti (Otevře se v novém panelu) analyzes your selfie to estimate your age. Your selfie is encrypted, never seen by a human and is deleted by Yoti immediately after estimation. KWS does not receive your selfie.
Stripe (Otevře se v novém panelu) authorizes 5 cents on your credit card to confirm it is valid. Your card won’t be charged. KWS does not receive your credit card details.
Veriff (Otevře se v novém panelu) uses your government-issued ID to verify your age. Your information is encrypted and securely processed by Veriff and your photo is deleted immediately after verification. KWS does not receive your ID.
ConnectID (Otevře se v novém panelu) allows you to confirm your age through your bank. No banking information is shared with ConnectID or KWS. (This method will be available later in September).
What information does KWS store when you go through age verification in the Epic Games Store?
KWS only stores your verified status and a hashed email address in its AgeGraph so you won't need to verify again when using the same email address for other games and services that use KWS. The verified status includes:
Your verified age threshold (e.g. 18+);
The method of verification used, e.g. ‘individual verified by payment card using Stripe’, but KWS never stores the verification details (e.g. your card details) themselves;
The date and time you verified your age for the first time and subsequent times using AgeGraph, and who you verified for (e.g. Epic Games);
the country in which your device is located at the time of initially interacting with KWS; and,A KWS generated transaction ID for each verification and any transaction IDs provided to KWS by its verification partners.
You can opt out of the AgeGraph by clicking the link in the email from KWS confirming that you have successfully verified or by sending an email to [email protected].
How can I get my information deleted from the AgeGraph?
You can delete your information from the AgeGraph whenever you like by contacting KWS at [email protected].
