Fortnite’s Creator Islands are full of fun! Try out a roguelike and an ARPG right now!
There are a ton of ways to play Fortnite, from the classic Battle Royale to the rhythm-action musical performances of Festival to the madcap speeding of Rocket Racing. But alongside these are thousands of player-created islands, offering completely unique games built with Fortnite’s tools.
How to connect to a Fortnite Island
There is a magnifying glass on the top-left of the main menu, next to the “Play” button. Click on that and a search box will appear. You can enter the Island’s name, the creator’s name, or the Island code (a string of numbers) to find a specific island, or you can type in a word or phrase to search.
Select your preferred Island from the list, and it will be ready to play from the menu.
Fort Knight Legend - Island Code 1346-0343-9599
Created by user love-is-real, Fort Knight Legend has you play the role of a Fort Knight, fighting back against an invasion of monsters in a quaint, fantasy world. Along the way, you gather loot, upgrade items, buy and sell equipment, gain pets, and take on a list of quests. If you enjoy the playstyle of an ARPG or an MMO, hop in!
Things begin simply enough, fighting the cutest little mushrooms—who, despite appearances, are apparently some manner of malevolent force. Then comes the threat of bouncy cacti, before reaching beaches populated by crabs and strange, clawed beasties. There are a variety of monster types throughout, scaling up in difficulty as you climb the levels, requiring that you pay careful attention to your equipment’s upgrades. You can also pick from various classes as your level rises, each of which comes with a unique pair of alternative attacks to accompany your sword-swinging.
Punctuating the exploration and mob brawls are boss fights, spawning in mini-dungeons, which can be taken on solo or in groups with other players on the server. Each boss is repeatable, with scaling difficulty options, and great loot drops for when you want to boost your inventory.
Then on top of all this, in the central hub is a huge range of NPCs who will offer you quests to take on, which might involve chopping down trees, gathering ores, or picking up drops from killing a specific enemy type. Completing these will net you rewards and XP.
Fort Knight Legend is regularly updated, themed to holidays, and has new boss encounters added every month. Beating bosses opens up new areas to explore, and refining your loot with the upgrades and varying rarities allows you to easily take on monsters on the way. There’s always a next task to be focused on, a new pet to unlock, a boss to level up and face…
The Hole [Roguelike] - Island Code 4015-0815-4649
The Hole is a masterclass in packing a small area with tons of detail. In this roguelite challenge, you leap from the hub area down a hole in the floor, entering a small-but-packed arena and attempting to survive for 15 minutes. Built both vertically and horizontally, the limited playfield is loaded with secret paths, hidden rooms, and excellent sniping points, all vital to take on the hordes and bosses that’ll try to take you down.
The one thing the level isn’t packed with is weapons. Instead, hidden in tucked-away areas, you can find other playable characters who become available in your roster on another run once rescued. Each has their own specialist weapon, changing how you approach things. As you play a round, enemies drop both coins and XP that need to be gathered by running over them—so no cheating by just sniping from a hidden spot. Collecting enough XP triggers pop-up options of temporary upgrades, where you choose from one of three options to boost your weapon power, speed, or various bonus attacks for that round.
Should you survive 15 minutes—and the rapid escalation of zombie types, plus tougher enemies like Agents, Clowns, and mini-bosses—you’ll then fight the ultimate boss, the Queen. If you die, you head back to the hub area at the top of the hole, where you can spend the gold you’ve gathered on permanent upgrades, either across all characters, or specific to each. This means, in theory, that each consecutive run should get easier as you improve your chances with more health, faster movement, more powerful attacks, and more specialist abilities for each character.
