Adriaan de JonghHidden Folks is a beautiful and lighthearted hidden object game, and you can get it free this week on the Epic Games Store for mobile.
Game designer Adriaan de Jongh and illustrator Sylvain Tegroeg drew, programmed, and animated 32 hand-drawn areas and hid more than 300 targets for you to find.
Each area in Hidden Folks has a theme, rendered in monochromatic, ink-on-paper aesthetics. Along the bottom of the screen is a scrollable section of special animals, objects, and people for you to find. Tap on a target in that area, and you’ll get a hint about their location. In the jungle, for example, you’ll learn that Classy Jessy loves treetop naps. Now it’s your job to find her. As you scroll the landscape looking for likely positions, the world is animated beneath you.
Tap on just about anything you see, and it’ll react to your touch in adorable ways. As you tap to interact, you’ll find more than 500 unique reactions. People wave, snakes slither, foliage spreads, and hidden apes fall from trees.
Underlying all of this is Hidden Folks’ voice work: a library of more than 2,000 sound effects generated entirely by mouth.
Keep scrolling, poking, and finding, and you’ll unlock the next area and the next targets to find.
