Put down your beans and saddle up your horse, because the original Red Dead Redemption is coming to PC, and it’s bringing some nightmares with it.

The award-winning tale of John Marston and the end of the American frontier hits the PC and Epic Games Store on Oct. 29. The release includes the game’s Undead Nightmare expansion pack, which adds a zombie-themed single-player campaign and two multiplayer modes to the open-world Western.

The PC version of the game, created in collaboration with Double Eleven, includes a number of PC-specific enhancements:
  • Native 4k resolution at up to 144Hz
  • Ultrawide and Super Ultrawide monitor and HDR10 support
  • Support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies and NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation
  • Adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and—of course—keyboard and mouse support
Set in 1911, Red Dead Redemption follows former outlaw John Marston as he hunts down members of his former gang in an effort to free his wife and son, who are being held hostage by the US government.

The third-person action-adventure game takes place in a detailed open world based on a fictionalized version of the West and part of Mexico. It was originally released in 2010 to nearly universal praise.

It was followed up by the iconic Red Dead Redemption 2, a prequel set in 1899 that tells the story of the Van der Linde gang and sets the stage for the first game. You can pick that up on the Epic Games Store right now. Red Dead Online is also available in the store.
