The Beastslayers return! An iconic kiith, last playable in Homeworld: Emergence, returns in Homeworld 3’s War Games mode. The indomitable Somtaaw fleets combine the classic firepower of the Hiigaran Navy and retrofit it with adapted industrial mining equipment. Somtaaw fleets prize survivability with reinforced armor and ion cannons on their Carrier and repair-capable Resource Controllers that can repair friendly ships in a pinch. Kiith Somtaaw also brings two all-new ships to War Games, the Acolyte Strikecraft and the Heavy Storm Frigate.

  • 2 new Somtaaw War Games fleets.

  • The Pilgrim fleet - This fleet represents ancient Somtaaw lineage. It utilizes retrofitted Hiigaran ships with a focus on the all-new Acolyte Strikecraft.

  • The Beast Slayer fleet - This fleet represents the warrior spirit of the Somtaaw, born of the fight with the Beast. It utilizes retrofitted Hiigaran ships with a focus on the Heavy Storm Frigate.

  • 2 all-new Somtaaw ships join the ranks of the Hiigaran fleet.

  • All-new Somtaaw Emblem included in Fleet Customization Painter for War Games & Skirmish.

Homeworld 3's single-player campaign brings the series' epic space battles in for intense, close-quarters combat on visually diverse maps full of enormous obstacles to plan around. At the same time, it delivers an unexpectedly personal story that leans a little too heavily on the cliche of a new-generation protagonist seeking out the old.

Overall, Homeworld 3 feels like a great return to form for this iconic RTS franchise. Diehard fans will love experiencing what comes next in this turbulent galaxy, while newcomers can use this as the perfect way to jump into the series for the first time. And even though some of the controls can be unintuitive and the camera needs a bit of work, the battles seem to be as exciting as ever. It really feels like Blackbird Interactive understood just what makes Homeworld and the RTS genre tick here, so hopefully there are plenty more adventures in store for the future.
