Why Early Access?

As you can probably tell, Lost Abroad Café is still pretty early in development, and there certainly isn't a ton of visual/audio polish quite yet. By releasing in Early Access, we will be able to gather valuable insights and suggestions from the player base to make improvements to the game before an official release. By playing the Early Access and joining our Discord to be vocal about what works, what doesn't, what else you want to learn, and how you want to play, we'll be able to make Lost Abroad Café the most effective and fun language learning tool it can be.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

Lost Abroad Café will be in Early Access until approximately April-May 2023.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

We plan to add more complex grammar to the game as well as the ability for the player to have conversations with customers through a dialogue interface. Additionally, we will be making unique changes for each language to better reflect the culture and food/drink of the country where the player opens their shop. We will also be polishing up the game's visuals and sound effects to create the best possible language learning experience.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

The core gameplay mechanics of purchasing equipment and serving customers are in place and players can choose from 7 available languages to learn. However, there are still some features and improvements that we plan to add before the game's full release, such as more complex grammar, additional equipment, and cultural changes for each language.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

As we add more features and improvements to the game, we will gradually increase the price until the game's full release. Our goal is to provide players with a great value for their money during the Early Access period, and to reward them for their feedback and support as we continue to develop the game.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

We have an active Discord server where we interact with players and take their feedback and suggestions. We also regularly publish devlogs to our website, which show our thought process and give players a behind-the-scenes look at the game's development. Additionally, we plan to gather feedback and suggestions through surveys. Overall, our goal is to create a game that players love and learn from, and we believe that involving the community in our development process is the best way to achieve this.
