What type of game is Providence?

Providence is a 3rd person game that combines survival and rogue-lite elements on exotic, shattered alien worlds. Players take on the role of a Trailblazer, exploring fragments of destroyed planets that float above the abyss of a singularity, filled with wild vegetation, exotic creatures, mysterious alien vaults, and plenty of rare resources.

What engine is Providence being created on?

Providence is powered by Unreal Engine 5 to build an exciting and immersive 3D sci-fi experience.

What can I expect in the Early Access version?

The early access version contains early versions of two out of the three world types; your Homestead and Slipworld.

Homestead is the home base of the player where they will be able to build a base, craft items, upgrade gear and improve their loadouts to be able to survive harsher conditions in more advanced Slipworlds.

Slipworlds are land surfaces fragmented from planets and asteroids that contain various creatures and valuable resources the player must find and extract before the slipworld fully slips into the singularity.

Slipworlds are available for a limited time and players will have to fight the environment, and other players to harvest, collect and extract the the materials and resources in order to be able to use them in their homstead.

How does Providence use blockchain

Providence is going to have a player based economy where every asset extracted from the Slipworlds, and items crafted with them are owned by the player to do as they please whether they want to use them or trade them in the marketplace.

Blockchain technology allows us to handle all the asset management including secured transactions, publicly visible ledger tracking assets and their states, to name a few.

What utility does blockchain bring to the product?

Blockchain help us create an ecosystem with various utilities not just within the main Providence game but all the games in the Providence universe. Some of the main utilities:

- In-Game Upgrades & Additional Customization Options

Providence (PRV) tokens are used in upgrading and further customizing in-game elements such as equipment, dropship and overall loadout. These upgrades do not give the player a significant gameplay advantage over others, but instead increase convenience and enhances the quality of life.

The upgrades are not mandatory to be able to play Providence to the fullest but they do unlock more convenience and customization options for those that want it.

**

  • Community Outposts

**
Outposts require an upkeep which can be paid via PRV tokens. The outposts come with various community options that involve PRV token in various ways.
Various activities will only be possible by spending or staking PRV tokens.

**

  • Staking

**
PRV token holders can stake their tokens to help secure the network. This means that their tokens are locked up to be used in validating transactions, as well as maintaining the blockchain.
As an incentive, stakers can receive rewards, depending on the amount staked. We aim to reward the community of our token holders by providing airdrops.

**

  • Voting Rights

**
PRV holders can have their vote in decisions related to the game, such as changes to game mechanics or new features, or actual in-game world elements, such as the lore, meta and seasonal content.

**

  • Community Funding

**
PRV holders can vote on proposing and funding community projects and initiatives within the Providence universe.
The community projects can range from collaborating with someone to make assets for Providence, to hire a team to make another game within our universe.
Early Access
PRV holders will have access to our in development builds to try out the new features and content, before they are released to the general public.
Special Events & Rewards
Providence will have various in-game events with unique rewards that will be require tokens to participate.

Does Providence require me to connect an external wallet? What wallets does this product support?

Providence uses its own in-game wallet that will also be available externally via web but we do not intend to support other wallets at this time.

Can I play Providence without interacting or engaging with blockchain, NFT, or cryptocurrency?

Providence economy and assets are fully on chain but blockchain integration is seamless and while everything you obtain will be on-chain, it is yours to do whatever you want with. You can choose not to engage with the marketplace to trade it for other assets for example.

It is entirely up to you.

What chain does this Providence use? Is the chain or proof-of-stake?

Providence is using a subnet powered by the Avalanche, a Proof of Stake Layer 1 blockchain developed by Ava Labs.

Does Providence have a marketplace? What can I do with the things that I earn (or purchase)?

Providence has a fully player driven economy which means all the assets that exists have either been extracted, or crafted by a player.

Blockchain allows us to give the players full ownership over the assets. You can use them in the game or trade them for other assets you want.
