How is the blockchain, NFT's and cryptocurrency used in this product and What utility do they bring to the product?
Blockchain & Cryptocurrency
We use the Blockchain to keep track of the in-game currency Pscillion ($PSCI).
Pscillion is used to craft items within the game, which allows you to apply bonus stats and effects to your plants. Pscillion is also used as a form of payment to enter the Leaf League event and Critter Battler minigame.
NFTs
NFTs in The Evolving Forest are the plants you care for, we read your wallet to retrieve your plants and place them into the game for you to then take care of, harvest and breed them to create even more plants that can be converted back into NFTs.
Note: As a security measure, while your NFTs are within the game they are locked, this means they are not sellable and must be withdrawn from the game to be sold or staked. Players also have access to NFT Critters which can be used in the Critter Battler event to combat other players’ critters.
Does this product require me to connect an external wallet and What wallets does this product support?
We do require you to connect a wallet, however this wallet is provided through Sequence. This works through users signing into Sequence via their email address that will create a unique Sequence Wallet that is connected to this address.
Note: We are currently looking into ways to connect MetaMask and other providers as an alternative to Sequence through our back-end so users don’t have to transfer their NFTs to Sequence.
We utilize Sequence (Se abre en una nueva pestaña) to allow you to log into the Evolving Forest directly via your Email Address. This allows you to stay logged in through multiple sessions and means you don't need to use your primary wallet to connect to The Evolving Forest.
Can I use the product without interacting or engaging with blockchain, NFT, or cryptocurrency?
Currently you cannot.
However there are plans in the future to allow free to play players to join the game and earn Pscillion ($PSCI) to buy their own plants.
What chain does this product use? Is the chain proof-of-work or proof-of-stake?
The current Critter and Genesis Plant Drop are on Ethereum and Proof Of Stake.
Does this product have a marketplace and what can I do with the things that I earn (or purchase)?
We do have a Marketplace on OpenSea containing the Genesis Drop.
Things You Earn
Currently you can only earn Pscillion and Plants Seeds through the game., this Pscillion can be used alongside other in-game items to create Plant Boosters in the Workshop. This will allow you to make sure your plant when harvested grants you more Pscillion and other in-game currencies to then use on your other plants.
Seeds are the first stage of the plant NFTs and can be used with other in-game items to pot them so that players can care for them to turn into full-fledged plants. Players can also withdraw these seeds as NFTs to sell on the marketplace.
Things You Purchase
At the moment only plants are purchasable, with those plants you can play The Evolving Forest and care for them within the game itself.
What is included in Early Access?
As we progress through the stages of Alpha and Beta towards a final release we will be adding key updates such as the Economy overhaul, Critter Battler Multiplayer, Leaf League plant competition, 360 rooms and Plant Care contracts for Free To Play players.
Currently players can select their guild out of 3 unique guilds, from there they are given multiple plants that can be watered, have boosters applied to them, be fruited or bred and then harvested for Pscillion and other resources that will assist in crafting.
Players can also view their plants in up-close detail with the plant viewer, water their plants with the guilds watering cans, in the Workshop they can increase their crafting level through crafting items that will assist in the care, growth and stats of their plants.
If players are running low on resources they can play the Gene Splicer minigame up to three times per day to obtain Pscillion and other useful items that will make crafting items and caring for plants easier.
What is the current state of the game?
The game is currently in the 2nd stage of development, this includes our conversion to the Unreal Engine.
The game is playable and all key elements are in place and working. As mentioned above we are looking at overhauling how you experience the game and the mini-games that are playable within the game.
This includes everything linked in the previous question What is included
How long will the game be in Early Access?
We are hoping to release a full 1.0 version of The Evolving Forest by the end of 2023, however we may encounter some issues along the way or be integrating more mini-games that will require community testing before we are happy to release fully.
How often will you be updating the game?
We will be doing fortnightly Bug Fix releases whenever the community encounters major game breaking bugs.
We do not have an estimate for the major updates but will be releasing a News Post before releasing those updates to ensure the community is aware of these updates.
Will my progress be saved during updates?
Prior to NFT integration, your plants will be saved on our servers. This will allow you to take care of and manage your plants up until our Wallet/NFT Integration testing, at this point we will be swapping to integrating your NFTs directly into the game.
Once NFTs are fully integrated into the game we will be transferring to NFTs entirely and will be removing all of the test plants from our server permanently.
Will the price change when the game leaves Early Access?
The game is and always will be free. In the final version Free to Play players will be able to gain Pscillion to purchase their own plants by successfully looking after others plants via Plant Contracts.
Can I provide feedback and bug reports?
Absolutely, we track bug reports via our Trello (Se abre en una nueva pestaña).
We use feedback and bug reports to ensure we're continuing to provide a smooth experience the community enjoys.
