Revenge of the Savage Planet, developed and published by Raccoon Logic Studios, takes you on a zany adventure across the stars. The sequel to 2020’s Journey to the Savage Planet, Revenge of the Savage Planet is a sci-fi escapade like no other, filled to the brim with over-the-top humor, countless alien creatures, and dangerous environmental hazards.

Our Revenge of the Savage Planet guide contains several tips to help you survive in this hostile galaxy. Below, we'll discuss resource collection, enemy types, and high-tech gadgets, plus a glimpse of what to expect later in the game once you’re able to travel to other worlds.

Scan and survey your surroundings regularly

Early in Revenge of the Savage Planet's campaign, you'll find yourself stranded on the jungle world of Stellaris Prime. We advise you to scan every alien flora and fauna that you see. As you catalog these strange species, they’ll be added to your Kindex database, and filling this out leads to unlockable upgrades.

The Survey action, meanwhile, causes your character to ping the map within a set radius. This reveals and marks all sorts of items, including three key resources: Carbon, Aluminum, and Silicon. You may even spot other goodies, such as Orange Goos, Printer Slurries, and Supply Crates.

Expand your habitat and craft new upgrades

Your habitat of NuFlorida on Stellaris Prime acts as your main base. It will expand over time and is home to a lot of key mechanics you'll want to interact with regularly.

  • You can unlock new upgrades via the crafting station. Upgrades may require resources, Printer Slurry, specific creatures, or just further progression through the story.
  • The research function lets your droid companion, Eko, check out creatures that you’ve captured.
  • The computer’s parameters system lets you alter Eko’s voice and chattiness level.
  • You can read emails and watch archived videos to learn about your next tasks.
  • The Changing Room enables you to swap into a new outfit.
  • The Living Quarters has enough space for your furniture and fixtures.
  • New hab modules that you acquire are dropped straight down to the surface, causing your base to expand.

Be on the lookout for teleporters

Revenge of the Savage Planet often sends you on huge treks far away from your hab. That’s why you should always be on the lookout for teleporters. They have red beams of light that streak toward the sky, making them visible from a distance. Each teleporter you access allows you to fast travel to others in the network, reducing the amount of back-and-forth travel.

Increase your health and stamina by eating Orange Goo

One important Revenge of the Savage Planet tip to keep in mind is that you need to increase your health and stamina on a regular basis. This is done by eating weird egg-shaped blobs known as Orange Goo. The worlds that you visit have a huge number of these. For instance, Stellaris Prime has 31 Orange Goos for you to discover and gobble up.

Enemies have different weak spots

The vast majority of alien fauna that you encounter are highly territorial and aggressive. That’s why you need to be aware of enemy weak spots, which are readily marked when you press the Survey button.

Shooting a weak spot stuns your foe briefly. Here are some examples:

  • The Beetle has a weak spot on its rear end. The Fecal Beetle, meanwhile, is covered in blue goop that you must destroy first with your Proton Whip.
  • The Hognork is a large animal that has bulletproof skin. You can only stun it by shooting its hard palate or throat when it opens its mouth to roar.
  • Vaperons and Alpha Vaperons tend to spin around and teleport. Be ready to shoot the weak spot on their leg when they reappear.
  • Certain creatures might be weak to a particular element or effect instead. A good example is the Stinging Bloatus, a bulbous plant that explodes if you spray it with a lot of water.

Stun foes to lasso and capture them

You can capture alien creatures instead of finishing them off. First, you must shoot their weak spot to stun them. Then, you need to lasso them with the Proton Whip tool. Pull your target closer and avoid taking damage so that a vortex can transport them back to base.

When you return to your main base on Stellaris Prime, you should be able to call down additional pens for captive alien fauna. From there, you can start the research process via your computer. Researching certain fauna might result in new color patterns for your outfits, while others unlock additional tools and upgrades.

Unlock new traversal methods

The regions and worlds of Revenge of the Savage Planet are vast, and there are so many goodies that you can gather. That said, you won’t have access to all areas early on as you still need gadget upgrades that offer additional traversal methods.

  • Proton Whip Tether and Hawx Rail Grinder: The former allows you to use grapple points to zip across gaps, while the latter allows you to grind on energy beams (like a skateboard).
  • Jump Pack Thrusters: You can improve the thrusters of your jetpack to gain extra jumps.
  • Goo Ingestor: By default, the Spritzer Power Hose only shoots out water. Later, you can acquire the Goo Ingestor and spray your surroundings with lava, acid, and other dangerous liquids.

Amass AltaBucks and decorate your base

While roaming around, you might spot crates that contain a currency known as AltaBucks. Don’t let the exorbitant amounts—which can reach into the millions—fool you. AltaBucks are primarily used to purchase ridiculously expensive furniture and fixtures for your base including chairs, beds, dressers, tables, and various wall decorations. You can customize your hub the way you see fit to make NuFlorida a proper home away from home.

Complete Upgrade-o-Rama challenges to increase your clearance level

As you progress through Revenge of the Savage Planet’s campaign, you’ll receive different quests from several supporting characters. One particular arc has you tackling Upgrade-o-Rama challenges, batches of objectives that you need to complete in a specific manner. For instance, you might be asked to stun Slitherflies by spraying them with water or to fall down and “dive bomb” from a great height.

Each Upgrade-o-Rama quest batch that you complete increases your Clearance Level, which in turn unlocks more crafting and upgrade options.

Partake in D.I.A.P.E.R. activities

Those who own Revenge of the Savage Planet - Cosmic Hoarder Edition are in for a treat, since it also includes the Shama Lama’s Ding Dong Influencer Accelerator Program: Extreme Routine (D.I.A.P.E.R.) quests, which are some of the zaniest activities in the game. There are four quest chains that we’ve seen.

  • Galactic Travel and Leisure: Find specific locations in zones and step on the Ding Dong plate to strike a pose.
  • Interstellar Geographic: Toss a GrobX canister at enemies and watch what happens next.
  • Crash Test Dummy: Don a Prototype Suit and fail spectacularly to get your character killed.
  • STV Cribs: Place furniture in your hub and use the STV Cribs Judgment Button to see if your interior design acumen is “rad” or “lame.”

Travel to other worlds and repair your Javelin

You won’t be stuck on the planet of Stellaris Prime for long. After a few hours in Revenge of the Savage Planet, you should be able to acquire the plans for the Planet Cannon, a contraption that shoots you off to other worlds that you can freely explore. These include the desert world of Xephyr, the frozen tundra of Quasadron IX, and the deep chasms of the Zenithian Rift. There’s also a rumored fifth planet in the star system, though getting there remains a mystery.

Aside from the above, there's also the Javelin—a ship that has crashed in the swamps. It’s your one-way ticket home, but it’s submerged in murky water. Once you’re able to lift it, you'll have to complete additional projects and objectives to get it up and running.

Enjoy the adventure with a friend via local and online co-op

One of the best Revenge of the Savage Planet tips to remember is that it’s more fun to experience this journey with friends. The game has multiplayer functionality for both split-screen/local co-op and online co-op. (Cross-play can also be enabled.) Even better, you can load your campaign progress from your solo adventure so a buddy can hop in and aid you in your missions.

That does it for our Revenge of the Savage Planet guide. We hope these tips help you survive your trip through this hostile galaxy and get home safe!
