Hazelight has been sure to hide a host of hidden trophies and Easter eggs to seek out as you jump between twisted takes on genre tropes with a friend in tow. Here are some of our favorite examples that we’ve found so far. Of course, minor spoilers will follow for specific areas and experiences in Split Fiction, so be mindful if you’ve yet to complete the game.
A leap of faith - Assassin's Creed
Split Fiction starts its fourth-wall-breaking early by poking fun at Ubisoft’s historic Assassin's Creed series. In the opening fantasy section, players will perform an acrobatic leap off a rooftop… into a conveniently placed bale of hay. Upon landing, Zoe exclaims, “Gotta have faith when you leap.” If that’s not enough, here's the icing on the cake: she then jumps out of the pile with the grace and posture of a wannabe Altair.

You can find this first Easter egg in the opening chapter Rader Publishing as part of the Brave Knights section. After scaling a hazardous wooden mechanism, you and your co-op buddy will find yourselves on a rooftop. Stepping off the edge will cause you to slide down the rooftop into the haybale. You don’t need to press any buttons to perform this trick, as it will occur automatically once you reach the roof's edge.
Cutie, Rose’s Elephant - It Takes Two
In Hazelight’s acclaimed game It Takes Two, separating parents Cody and May are downsized into dolls. The adventure concerns their attempts to get back to their bodies (and fix their marriage). In the process, they are forced into a memorable encounter where they accidentally cleave the limbs from their daughter’s favorite toy, a stuffed elephant called Cutie.

Players can find the same stuffed animal in Split Fiction, this time as a mascot for a sci-fi pet store. In an ode to its untimely demise, the player controlling Zoe can crack their whip and pull off Cutie’s arm and leg once they’re up close. Once you’ve dismembered the innocent creature, you will earn the Rose’s Best Friend Achievement.
Cutie is found in the Neon Revenge Chapter during the Play Me Techno section. After Mio drops a ladder for Zoe to climb up, Zoe will use their powers to open a shuttered door nearby. Once you walk through the door, you’ll reach an area with a graffiti-covered subway tunnel entrance. Head to the right and you’ll find the familiar elephant mascot for the Mastodon Pet Store.
Sandworm Thumper - Dune
Not that Frank Herbert’s Dune needs any more references in contemporary media, but Split Fiction quickly gets a wink in during the game’s first sci-fi chapter. In the side story The Legend of the Sandfish, players cross a desert and distract shark-like creatures with a rhythmic tool that thumps the ground to deter their appetite for Mio and Zoe. This is an obvious homage to the same thumpers in Dune, which are typically used to attract a sandworm rather than shoo one away. You won’t find an in-game version of Timothée Chalamet, but you will hear the tool's familiar thud as you avoid becoming chum.

You can find the portal for The Legend of the Sandfish side story in the Neon Revenge chapter during the Play Me Techno section. Once you fall between the buildings at the end of the Rush Hour section, you can find the portal directly behind you.
F@&! the Oscars - Josef Fares's Game Awards speech
Hazelight’s director Josef Fares isn’t afraid to poke fun at himself, and in an ode to that, he has hidden a sly reference to his much-memed, expletive-laden anti-Oscars speech from the 2017 Game Awards in Split Fiction.

In the Neon Revenge chapter, the Play Me Techno section has an area where Mio and Zoe must dodge subway cars by riding walls and hiding in crannies. Once you get past these hazards, you’ll find a peaceful section with a padlocked door. But before you slash it and leave, check the benches for a radio. If you tune the radio just right, you can find his speech and some memorable tunes from the studio’s previous games, too.
Blow your house down - The Three Little Pigs
One of the most memorable excursions in Split Fiction is a side story that turns Mio and Zoe into quirky piggies. One player earns a body that extends like a slinky while the other picks up a farting ability that works a bit like a jetpack, and you'll both have plenty of opportunities to roll around in the mud. The crux of the mission involves collecting hidden apples, but of course, Hazelight could not resist throwing a coy reference to folklore at this open goal.

On the way up the hill, you’ll find a cocky pig in a brick house who waxes about the stability of their lodgings, prompting you to investigate the architecture. Wouldn’t you know, there’s a big target on the back which the farting player can blast into, destroying the owner’s home to pick up the Huffing and Puffing achievement and beginning a cheeky exchange.
You can find the Farmlife side story during the Neon Revenge chapter in the Streets of Neon section. The specific area is signposted by a vast orange "Porcus Bank" sign.
Bonfire - Dark Souls
You don’t need to have fallen to one of FromSoftware’s legendarily challenging bosses to recognize the series’ iconic font, whether it be a scolding "you died" or a much more calming "bonfire lit." Split Fiction pays joking homage to Dark Souls and Elden Ring by allowing Mio and Zoe to light a Moonfire of their own, complete with "Moonfire Lit" text and a ghostly snail companion to set the tone.

This particular Easter egg is located in the chapter Final Dawn. During the Test Chamber section, you will be alerted to a magic-infused side story called Moon Market. In it, players are tasked with finding and collecting three cat spirits. After catching an ethereal gondola to the town square, follow the path directly to the right and equip the lanterns in the kitty pumpkin’s mouths, which allow Mio and Zoe to find invisible platforms and cross gaps. Once you’ve crossed the first opening, turn right and follow the path around a church building to the left. Cross another gap and find a cave with the unlit Moonfire inside.
While you’re there, you can also pick up the Potion Chef achievement by finding the cauldron in the town square and crafting all the potions with the ingredients listed on the nearby board. But we’ll let you discover their effects on your own.
Vincent and Leo - A Way Out
This secret is another Hazelight reference, this time to the studio’s prison-breaking adventure game A Way Out. Hazelight's carceral adventure follows felons Leo and Vincent as they execute a jailbreak and suffer the immediate ramifications of their actions. During the escape, the pair constantly bicker and get on each other's nerves, and their banter is a defining aspect of the story. Split Fiction pays respect to their oppositional personalities by having the duo argue one more time, fittingly from the confines of futuristic cells.

You can find Vincent and Leo during the Isolation chapter in the Cell Blocks section. After Mio controls a collection of cargo containers that allows Zoe to cross a gap, you’ll reach a jump that you need to wallrun to get past. Before you tackle the obstacle, search the area for a small crawlspace on the right that leads to the dynamic duo. As you walk up to them, Vincent quickly asks you to push a button in front of you while Leo begs you not to. It’s up to you to decide what to do, though it’s worth mentioning there is no achievement attached to the decision.
