Destiny 2's Season of the Wish has arrived, introducing a long stretch of seasonal content set to bridge the gap between the storylines of Lightfall and next year's expansion, The Final Shape. The upcoming expansion, in which Guardians will finally be able to go head-to-head against The Witness, was originally scheduled for February 27 of next year, but Bungie recently pushed it back to June 4. Don't fret, though—there's no shortage of new activities and challenges to keep yourself busy until then.

Season 23 of Destiny 2 is centered around Riven, the iconic boss of the Last Wish raid, originally introduced with the Forsaken expansion. As part of a bargain struck by Mara Sov in order to prepare for The Witness, the seasonal storyline tasks you with hunting lost Ahamkara eggs, which are scattered across the solar system.

The seasonal questline has plenty of narrative twists and turns to unravel, but there are more activities to partake in, such as the Riven's Lair matchmade activity. Below is a list of tips and things you should know before diving into Destiny 2's Season of the Wish, including how to get the most out of its new mechanics and the schedule in the long run.

Anti-Champion perks in Season of the Wish

As has become the standard in previous seasons, you can get all Destiny 2 Champion mods from the first row of this season's Artifact, called Queensfoil Censer.

Before you head over to your Vault to shuffle your loadout, here are the eligible weapons:

• Piercing Sidearms: Useful against Barrier Champions. Requires Sidearms.
• Unstoppable Hand Cannon: Useful against Unstoppable Champions. Requires Hand Cannons.
• Unstoppable Bow: Useful against Unstoppable Champions. Requires Bows.
• Overload Auto Rifle: Useful against Overload Champions. Requires Auto Rifles.
• Overload Pulse Rifle: Useful against Overload Champions. Requires Pulse Rifles.

Remember that you no longer need to equip the aforementioned buffs in your Gauntlets' mod slots. Instead, once you've unlocked a perk, it'll be available throughout the season. Just make sure to equip the corresponding weapon and you'll be all set.

 

How to get Wishing Glass Shards in Destiny 2

As part of the Caught in The Coil quest, which you can obtain by progressing through the seasonal questline of Season of the Wish, you'll be tasked with collecting Wishing Glass Shards. The sole indication for how to attain them is that they're part of Lair pathways, which are areas specific to Riven's Lair.

If you're wondering how to get Wishing Glass Shards in Destiny 2, you need to keep an eye out for vases in The Coil. They're usually present while you're completing tasks such as forming a portal to escape the trapped room. You can identify the vases at a distance thanks to their specific glow, and will usually find them next to walls or in corners.

Once you spot a vase, go ahead and shoot it. The Wishing Glass Shards will drop on the ground, and you'll need to walk over them to manually pick them up. The upside is that you get quite a large amount per stack, meaning that you'll likely be done with this objective in no time. While it's only present during one quest for the first week of Season of the Wish, it's likely that future missions will ask you to repeat the process.

 

Be mindful of traps when navigating The Coil

Speaking of the Riven's Lair activity, you'll quickly find that there's no shortage of traps to get through, mainly in the form of spikes. If you see a group of holes in the ground, that indicates a trap—getting too close will trigger the contraption and result in an instant death, which is annoying.

In addition to the traps, there are white rectangle-shaped contraptions that are constantly moving in place. Sometimes these can help you avoid touching the spike traps, while in other cases they might interrupt a double jump and send you falling back down.

I recommend avoiding them altogether, if possible. Watch your step and rely on your own jump abilities to get across the Lair pathways, and you should arrive safely. If you're using the Strand subclass, the Grapple might help you mitigate some of the imposed frustrations of these sequences.

 

How to get the Dragon's Breath Catalyst

Dragon's Breath has returned, and there's a Weapon Catalyst waiting if you're up for the task. First, you'll need to acquire Dragon's Breath, which is automatically unlocked in the first tier of the season pass if you've purchased it. If not, don't fret—just progress through the free tier until level 35.

Once you have it, pay Banshee-44 a visit in the Tower to grab An Old Flame, which is the Catalyst quest. Below are the steps to get the Dragon's Breath Catalyst in Destiny 2:

An Old Flame - Step 1:

• Scorched targets defeated (50 total)
• Scorched bosses defeated (5 total)

Dragon's Breath, by default, has a perk that will cause Scorch damage to enemies, which makes it a great option. But any other weapon with Scorch will work, as well as any fire-related subclasses, like the Warlock's Sunsinger.

An Old Flame - Step 2:

• Defeat enemies using Dragon's Breath
• Generate Calibration Data by completing activities

For the second task, calibration occurs when you complete Strikes, as well as Crucible and Gambit matches. Seasonal playlist activities also count. If you want to speed up the process, higher tier Nightfall completions, Crucible and Gambit wins, and defeating Guardians provide extra Calibration Data.

How to get Lair Keys

Once more, there's a specific seasonal key as part of Season of the Wish, called Lair Keys. You'll need at least one to complete the Caught in The Coil quest, but you should always have a few spares with you before running the seasonal matchmade activity.

In order to get Lair Keys in Destiny 2, you need to make progress through the seasonal questline and finish the events of the first week of the season. From there, you'll obtain Lair Keys randomly for completing seasonal activities. You can also get a few from the season pass, and for increasing your rank with Riven—make sure to always grab bounties before starting the activity! While Lair Keys are not a guaranteed drop, they're definitely worth pursuing so you can open Lair Chests.

 

You can try the new Group Finder feature soon

The Fireteam Finder beta test is currently available to all players. This new feature enables you to create or find listings made by other players who are looking to party up.

Bungie announced there'll be a raid stress test on November 30, from 9 AM PST to 5 PM PST. The beta period will then begin in December pending the stress test results, with the full release targeting late January.

When the time comes, there'll be two ways to access Fireteam Finder: from the Director using the Roster tab, or using the Fireteam Finder access point found on every activity's launch screen. While it's still too early to know exactly how it'll work, the feature should help you find a group when all of your friends are offline, or if you need a hand with a specific activity. There'll be parameters to customize the search and narrow down what you're looking for.

 

There's a really neat Sparrow to get during Season of the Wish

One can never have enough Sparrows. You can find the Gloaming Journeyer as part of Riven's rewards for leveling up your rank with the character. To access this, head over to the H.E.L.M. and use the portal to interact with the Spirit of Riven.

You'll need Rank 16 in order to get the Gloaming Journeyer—but don't fret, as you'll likely be making speedy progress as long as you're consistent with the seasonal activity. Make sure to always pick up daily bounties in order to get as much experience as possible as you're trekking along.

 

Season 23 will be longer and feature more events than usual

Due to the delay of The Final Shape, you'll have a few extra months than usual to progress through Season of the Wish. Several additional events will become available in the near future.
