A Klingon House is Reborn in Star Trek Online

Star Trek Online is continuing that tradition with their latest update, House Reborn. This update celebrates STO’s 11th anniversary, a feat nearly unheard of for online games. As part of their continuing story of the shattered Klingon Empire, they’re bringing together parts of Star Trek’s past and present for one cohesive storyline. For the past year, J.G. Hertzler as Martok and Robert O’Reilly as Aakar (the ancestor of Gowron), both from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, have been battling to forge a new way forward for Klingons. Now, their fight will be joined by Mary Chieffo as L’Rell and Kenneth Mitchell as Tenavik, reprising their roles from Star Trek: Discovery.
The mad Klingon Chancellor, J’mpok, has declared himself the Emperor, forcing former enemies together. Players will team with Martok, Adet’pa (portrayed by Rehka Sharma from Star Trek: Discovery), and the treacherous J’ula, sister of T’Kuvma. The only way to prevent J’mpok’s tyranny from doing even more damage is to return to Boreth, the Klingon holy world, and commune with a Time Crystal.
If that sounds a little complicated, don’t worry, there’s never been a better time to jump into STO. In addition to the Discovery-Era experience that was launched last year, they’ve just finished completely revamping the starting experience for Klingon Captains. Take over a ship in honorable combat. Travel to Grethor itself and battle Klingon demons. Then join a story eleven years in the making, with over 40 of your favorite Star Trek actors, including Leonard Nimoy, LeVar Burton, Nana Visitor, and Sonequa Martin-Green.
But that’s not all. With the latest update, we’re introducing the ability for Captains to unlock all of the over 600 ships in the game, regardless of faction. And, with the Anniversary Event, you’ll have the chance to unlock the first ever Klingon/Romulan Bird of Prey, built by both factions together.
Star Trek Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game that allows players to explore the Star Trek universe from within. Players can forge their own destiny as Captain of a Federation starship, champion the Empire through the far reaches of the galaxy as a Klingon Warrior, rebuild the Romulan legacy as the commander of a Romulan Republic Warbird or carry out daring missions on behalf of the Dominion as a Jem’Hadar soldier. Captains can also explore iconic locations from the Star Trek universe, make contact with new alien species and battle alongside other players in customizable starships. Star Trek Online is currently available on PC, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.
