Achilles: Legends Untold has set sail for a new destination: the Epic Games Store. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to share our game with the EGS audience,” said Pawel Waszak, CEO and lead designer at Dark Point Games. “And we thought we’d tell you more about the game so you can learn all about it, straight from the source!”
Achilles began as a dream to make a compelling isometric, Souls-like action RPG based entirely on Greek mythology. Achilles is the mightiest warrior of his time, and in this game the legendary fighter and expert tactician is caught in the centuries-long war between Ares, god of war, and Hades, king of the underworld. The original, engaging story finds him traveling across distant lands directly inspired by the ancient Greek mythos, from the bloodstained sands outside of Troy to the infernal depths of Tartarus. 
As this is a combat-first game, we paid special attention to developing challenging yet rewarding gameplay that’s easy to learn but difficult to master. A deep skill tree and a wide array of weapons encourage innovative playstyles and situational adaptability—letting the player forge their own preferred method for dominating and defeating their foes. Spears, swords, even shields: players can wield almost any piece of equipment on the offensive, with opportunities to upgrade the deadliness of their weapons via a detailed leveling and crafting system. They might even end a battle with a cinematic finisher move, showing the final blow to an enemy as it falls, zoomed-in and in slow motion.
But for all his strength, the danger posed by Achilles’ enemies can’t be ignored. The immersive battles of Achilles require dexterity and strategy: opponents are powered by the Group AI Action (or GAIA) system, allowing them to collaborate and band together in unpredictable ways. Watch your back—whether submerged in the rigorous challenge of group combat or standing alone in one of the game’s intense and memorable boss fights, players must constantly reinvent their approach of attack, lest they meet an untimely end.
Luckily, you need not enter this war alone. An integrated co-op system allows players to join up with a trusted comrade to tackle the game’s many dungeons, all of which are procedurally-generated. The mythical creatures and defiant gods lurking in these dungeons are among the toughest you’ll encounter, but don’t fear: all the loot obtained and progress made in co-op carry over to your solo campaign. 
Battlefields and dungeons won’t be your only purview, though. At the forge of Hephaestus, players can utilize harvested raw materials for equipment enhancement and crafting, customizing and improving the arsenal they’ll need to slay the many monsters that stand in their way. Meanwhile, the fabled Altar of Hades is the focal point that allows players to convert the souls of their slain opponents to further heighten and maximize Achilles’ skills.
