Aerial_Knight's Never Yield never stops being excellent

As its name suggests, Aerial_Knight's Never Yield never slows down. You play as Wally, a mysterious boy searching for an artifact that was stolen from him. Each level takes place in unique locations. You'll visit areas such as the rooftops of a cyberpunk Detroit, a traffic-filled highway, a factory, and even a school. You're always ducking, running, or jumping. Pulling off these parkour stunts in-game creates a sense of momentum. You’ll feel almost unstoppable as you avoid drones, police cars, and any other obstacle in your path. Each level has specific points where the game speeds up, and you'll need to avoid obstacles rapidly.
Never Yield offers multiple difficulty options to choose from, some of which feature Slow-Mo Mode. With this turned on, the game will slow down before you hit an obstacle, giving you more time to dodge it. This is perfect for beginners, but once you've played enough of the game, turn this off for a more rewarding experience. With Slow-Mo Mode disabled, the game becomes a nonstop adrenaline rush. There's nothing more satisfying than running through an entire level at full speed without dying once.

It's easy to get sucked into the game and lose track of time, especially when you factor in its mesmerizing soundtrack. Made by Never Yield creator Neil Jones and his composer friend, Daniel Wilkins, it’s a mix of jazz and hip-hop that fits the vibe of the game's futuristic Detroit setting. Jones, a.k.a. Aerial_Knight, developed the game almost entirely by himself under his studio Headup Games. Jones took inspiration from several things to make Never Yield, including his family, Beverly Hills Cop, and The Last Dragon. For instance, the protagonist Wally is based on his deceased uncle and has a prosthetic leg just like him.
The storytelling in Never Yield is reminiscent of the Dark Souls series with its abstractness. Players aren't spoon-fed anything; they must figure out the plot themselves using only what’s revealed through gameplay or short cutscenes that lack dialogue. This adds mystery to the story and makes you want to play more to discover exactly what's going on. A good example of this is found in the game’s opening. It kicks off with a cutscene of Wally sprinting out of a burning building before transitioning to the first level, where drones and police vans are hot on his heels. This is an effective opening because of how simple it is, as it communicates the game’s plot to the player without any dialogue.
Never Yield is a game that never stops being excellent and succeeds as an addicting experience that’s hard to put down. You can purchase Aerial_Knight's Never Yield on the Epic Games Store.
