Hi, my name is Jesse and I’m the Design Director on Spellbreak. Spellbreak is a multiplayer fantasy battle royale featuring epic magic combat. Players take on the role of battlemages and cast massive spells and sorceries at each other on the field of combat. Magic in Spellbreak isn’t just “magical guns'' though, the elements conjured from your spells interact with each other, other players, and the world in explosive ways. I want to take you through just a small sample of those combinations and show you what you can do!

Let’s start with a straight-forward damage dealer: A Toxic Cloud with a little fire mixed in. Conjured by throwing a condensed ball that explodes into a huge cloud, Toxic Clouds make for great area-denial or a way to hide your approach. However, if you manage to catch a player in (or near!) one and quickly followup with a fire spell, you can set off a massive explosion, severely burning anyone nearby. For more utility or a defensive position, you can use the Toxic Cloud and some ice magic to freeze the cloud solid, providing you with a platform to climb up or a physical defense against incoming spells.

But maybe you’re a wind-user? While flying down from the skies, you cast a Tornado sorcery and use it to pull your target into a swirling vortex. Once trapped, you can set it ablaze with fire or electrify it with lightning to shock them, muddling them enough to prevent their own spellcasting. As a bonus, you can easily dispel the aforementioned Toxic Clouds by using wind to harmlessly blow them away.

These are just a very small sampling of the interactions that are possible (and indeed there are some crazy combos and chains that can be performed if you keep your wits about you), nevermind what happens when you combine these elemental combinations with Spellbreak’s six classes and a variety of movement-enhancing Runes that let you fly, become invisible, or jump 30 feet into the sky! Come check out Spellbreak and experiment for yourself!
