Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Expansion Pass brings big changes to a valley near you

After a year of early access, Disney Dreamlight Valley is powering up its Disney magic with a full launch. Players have spent the last year getting acquainted with the cozy life sim as they farmed crops to cook in Remy’s restaurant, mined for precious gems to share with Scrooge, and even saved the island from a dark and malicious presence most easily described as “teen angst”—it’s a long story (that you should absolutely play).

All of that content will still be available to those who didn’t play in early access, but developer Gameloft is also doubling down with this full launch by doubling the size of the game. A Rift In Time is the name of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s first-ever expansion, and it is available today alongside the game’s jump from early access.

There are plenty of updates coming to the Valley in the next year—with some of them requiring a separate purchase—and Gameloft recently revealed what players can expect with each new update both in the main game and in the Expansion Pass. We’ve got full details on everything new you can expect to find beginning today.

New friends? Be our guest!

Large DDV Early 2024 Roadmap
As if the Valley couldn’t get more packed with Disney history, a few more new faces will be making their way into the game soon. Best of all, these new friends will be free additions to the game, no paid expansion required.

The first free update is available today alongside the game’s full launch, and with it comes Jack Skellington just in time for Christmas—and just after Halloween. Is he fashionably late or extremely early? Who’s to say, but you’ll be able to make friends with the Pumpkin King starting today.

Winter will see a monstrous update with Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan from Monsters, Inc. screaming up some fun in a free update. You’ll have to recruit them from their world, however, as a new Monsters, Inc. Realm will appear in the Dreamlight Valley castle’s lineup.

The next few characters haven’t been directly confirmed by Gameloft, but the hints revealed so far give us a pretty strong clue. Early spring will see a “vibrant new villager” added to the game, with the clue being a picture of Donald Duck’s house. Considering that house is actually a houseboat, and the boat is named the S.S. Miss Daisy after Donald’s girlfriend, the solution isn’t a hard nut to quack…er, crack

The next clue for the late spring update simply shows a picture of an open Realm door with the quote: “You don’t find a Realm like this every dynasty.” This heavily implies an update centered around Mulan, as the Emperor, referring to the titular heroine, famously tells Li Shang after the climactic final battle, “You don’t find a girl like that every Dynasty.” Will only Mulan make the journey, or will Shang or her lizard dragon Mushu join her? Time will tell.

The final clue is for the summer update, and it mentions a “new princess” who will bring “new culinary delights” alongside a picture of beignets. The picture also shows art of the princess in question framed on the wall, so if you’ve wanted Tiana from The Princess and the Frog to join Dreamlight Valley, she’s almost there.

You’ve got a friend in ValleyVerse

Along with Jack Skellington, today’s update also brings a much-requested feature to the game in multiplayer. With the new ValleyVerse feature, up to four players can join together in a single village and spend time with each other and their favorite Disney friends.

Currently, the mode is limited to simply visiting other Valleys and showing off to your friends, but Gameloft has promised more updates to the multiplayer feature in the future.

Be prepared…for a new adventure

Mapdrawing
With the full launch of Disney Dreamlight Valley comes a massive new paid expansion: A Rift In Time, which will continue the game’s story. At the end of the previous storyline, a post-credit scene showed the wall drawing pictured above—which alludes to a new world separate from Dreamlight Valley— as lightning struck and the silhouette of Jafar appeared. This new story will likely take us to this new map, but it will also give us brand new friends to help us on the journey.

Jafar has been heavily hinted to be the main villain of A Rift In Time as the story says he caused this new map to separate from the main Valley. However, three new characters—Belle’s not-so-secret admirer Gaston, WALL-E’s robotic companion Eve, and the golden-haired princess Rapunzel—will all make appearances in A Rift In Time, and each can make the Valley their new home during the adventure.

The story will be broken up into three key updates: one today, one in the spring, and one in the summer. Today’s update will introduce the new world Eternity Isle while also introducing us to the aforementioned three new faces. Springtime will open up a mysterious section of the Ancient’s Landing biome, which will contain secrets of its own. Finally, the summer update will see the climactic end of the story as the villagers rise to thwart Jafar’s evil schemes.

Along with the new story comes a brand new tool: the Royal Hourglass. This staff can find hidden treasure chests lost to time and restore them, which enables you to collect what’s inside. These chests aren’t limited to the new Eternity Isle either; they will also appear back in the original Valley.

A whole new world

RealmsSpeaking of Eternity Isle, this new area isn’t just some small Realm or another extension of the Valley. This is another full map—one said to be the size of the entire original Valley—and it holds plenty of secrets, items, and more.

The map is split into three main biomes: Ancient’s Landing, Glittering Dunes, and Wild Tangle. Ancient’s Landing is the first area to be discovered, and it’s lined with mysterious buildings begging to be explored. Glittering Dunes is a vast desert area with jagged rocks jutting from the sand. Finally, the Wild Tangle is a lush forest lined with green grass and massive trees.

All of the events of A Rift In Time will take place in this new area, and just like the previous Valley, you can customize Eternity Isle however you wish. In fact, villager houses can be moved to Eternity Isle, and those characters will then appear in the new area as well.

That’s everything coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley beginning today, from the paid expansion A Rift In Time to a year’s worth of free updates. Check out the Valley today; it’s a great time to head into the unknown.
