Our Enotria: The Last Song guide has several tips to help you survive the Soulslike’s campaign, including how to optimize your loadout and equip the right elemental infusions.

The game from developer Jyamma Games draws heavily from Italian folklore. It’s set in a land under the grip of the Canovaccio, an eternal play that has turned everyone into unwitting actors. You take on the role of the Maskless One, a warrior who’s been given the unenviable task of breaking this cursed cycle. Here’s the best way to do that. 

Waypoints have several functions

Waypoints are a staple of Soulslike games, and Enotria: The Last Song is no exception. Upon interacting with a waypoint, you’ll be able to rest at the location, which will fully restore your health and Armoria flask charges. However, in typical Souls fashion, this will also cause most non-boss enemies to respawn.

If your character perishes, you’ll awaken at the last waypoint that you interacted with. If you’re carrying Memoria (the game’s base currency), then you'll need to return to the location where you died to recover it. Otherwise, it’ll be lost forever.

Waypoints offer additional functions, which we discuss in detail later in our guide:

• Loadout: Change your equipped Masks, weapons, Lines (i.e. skills/spells), and consumables.
• Path of the Innovators: Unlock passive perks that can be equipped.
• Level Up: Assign attribute points.
• Fast Travel: Teleport to another waypoint that you’ve previously tagged.

Manage and change up your loadout

One of the most important tips in Enotria: The Last Song is to remember what you’re able to equip via the Loadout menu. Here’s a quick summary:

• You’re allowed to have up to three loadouts at any given time. You can swap between these by holding the 'Ctrl' key and pressing the corresponding number key.
• Each loadout lets you equip two weapons and one parry gem.
• You can have up to four Lines (akin to skills and spells) and six passive perks.
• In the Role section, you’ll see which Mask and Aspect you've equipped, which we discuss in detail below.

Masks and Aspects empower your character

Masks alter the look of your character, but they provide more than just cosmetic effects. Each grants unique boons, as well. For example, the Guise of Spaventa boosts your stamina and grants access to the Solar Barrage skill, while the Mask of Change increases heavy attack damage, as well as physical power if your character is Awakened.

Note that major bosses and a few elite foes drop entire Masks, which you can equip immediately. Most standard enemies drop mask shards, though, meaning you need to defeat the same enemy type repeatedly to farm enough shards (usually 300 in total) to obtain that particular outfit.

Lastly, you can also equip Aspects to your character. These affect your attributes—often increasing some at the expense of others. These allow you to maximize certain stat points and spec towards your preferred build.

 

Master and infuse the elements: Fatuo, Viz, Mallano, and Gratia

An important Enotria: The Last Song tip is to remember the four elemental affinities and what they’re effective against: Fatuo (red) is strong against Vis (purple), Vis is strong against Mallano (green), Mallano is strong against Gratia (white), and—coming full circle—Gratia is strong against Fatuo (red).

Several enemies in the game have a particular affinity, making them highly resistant to that element and extremely vulnerable to another. For instance, a lot of hostiles in Quinta, the first zone in the campaign, have Fatuo (or red) affinity. This means you deal bonus damage against them if you use Gratia, which you could do by:

• Lines: Casting spells/skills that deal Gratia damage.
• Items: Using throwable items that deal Gratia damage.
• Weapons: Wielding weapons that have high stat coefficients for that particular element.
• Perks and infusion: Path-type perks make it so that casting a Line you have equipped briefly infuses a weapon with an elemental property.

A good example of the weapon infusion mechanic is the “Gratia Path” perk. Keep attacking an opponent until the Line in the first slot is charged. Then, activate the skill. Regardless of its element type, you should see that your weapon is imbued with Gratia.

 

Status effects both help and hinder you

The aforementioned elements also have their own status effects that are inflicted on your character or hostile targets that are repeatedly hit by attacks—and unlike most games, status effects in Enotria: The Last Song have both pros and cons. The status effects are:

• Fatuo - Wicked: Increases your elemental power, but enemies will be healed if they hit you.
• Vis - Dizzy: Increases damage dealt and stamina regeneration, but lowers defenses.
• Malanno - Sick: This poison depletes health over time, but it also spreads to others nearby.
• Gratia - Radiant: You recover health over time, but taking damage triggers an explosion.

Among these afflictions, we feel that Malanno (Sick) is the best one to focus on. As long as bosses and elites aren’t immune to the element, you should see them lose a lot of HP in just a few seconds.

 

Attacks and perfect parries help stagger your foes

The enemies you face in Enotria: The Last Song have an Unraveling Meter below their health bar. Hitting an enemy or parrying its blows at the perfect time will fill up this gauge.

Once full, you can unleash a finishing maneuver by clicking the Left Mouse button while standing in front of a target. Doing so deals tremendous damage, while also letting you enter the Awakened state. This grants even bigger bonuses depending on the Mask that you have equipped.

 

Allocate your attribute points properly

There are five attributes/stats to consider in Enotria: The Last Song:

• Bruiser: Increases health and physical defense.
• Assassin: Increases physical attack power.
• Elementalist: Increases elemental power and elemental defense.
• Trickster: Increases stamina and the number of consumables you can carry in your pouch.
• Battle Mage: Increases Ardore power and speeds up the charging of spells.

We recommend prioritizing Bruiser first so you have a lot of HP and physical defense. Then, allocate points into Assassin and Elementalist—though you may need to allocate a few points into other attributes, especially if you need to reach a certain value to equip a weapon or Mask.

If you need to reset your stats, you can use an item known as the Severed Braid of a Maiden—though these are fairly rare, so try not to waste them.

 

The Path of the Innovators unlocks more perks

The Path of the Innovators panel shows four color-coded sections with numerous perks. However, any given loadout can only equip up to six of these perks at a time. Here are our recommendations:

• Red - Path of Fury: Dealing damage with a weapon increases your physical power. This effect stacks.
• Red - Maestro Combattente: Dealing damage with a weapon causes the target to suffer damage over time.
• Green - Annihilator: Weapon attacks have a chance to deal increased damage.
• Purple - Infusion Master Part 1: While your weapon is infused, you deal increased elemental damage.
• Purple - State of Harmony: Increases the duration of weapon infusions.
• Purple: Any Path-type perk that you need to counter an elemental affinity.

Make use of Glyphs and Rifts to discover treasure

You'll discover several secrets while exploring the world of Enotria: The Last Song. Some are found by interacting with curious-looking symbols and then completing the accompanying challenge:

• Reality Rifts: Interact with these to change your surroundings. The effect will continue to last as long as you’re in the general area.
• Combat Rifts: Defeat the opponents in the vicinity to reach hidden locations.
• Canovaccio Glyphs: Use your Ardore ability by pressing the 'C' key to activate these sigils. You should then see glowing translucent platforms that you can traverse.

Tackle NPC quests, especially those that lead you to deities

Some NPCs that you meet also offer quests. For instance, the Mecenate, a mysterious merchant in Quinta’s Theater of Masks, wants you to find three deities in their respective zones. One of them, Maja, the Goddess of Life and Death, is actually in Quinta as well.

To reach Maja’s location, be sure to pick up the Sacrificial Knife in the Theater of Masks.Then, head to the forested area if you haven’t done so already. You should eventually arrive at the Crimson Cloister, where you’ll do battle against a major boss named Vermiglio.

Upon defeating Vermiglio (and assuming the Sacrificial Knife is in your inventory), stand in front of Maja’s statue to travel to her domain. Be ready for a tough fight ahead.

Don’t forget to look for the two other deities as well. Veltha is in Falesia and Litho is in Litumnia.
