EVE Online - Quick tips to get you started on your very own space adventure!

Setting a goal is vital when stepping into New Eden for the first time. There are hundreds of activities to get sucked into and over 350 ships to fly; which of them appeal to you? Do you just want to fly the coolest looking ships? Do you want to own a massive capital mining ship? Your goal could even be to one day run a corporation in the depths of wormhole space. The important thing is to try things out and see what you enjoy the most. Keep in mind that your choice is not an irrevocable decision by any means. Rather, it’s only the first step in your journey.
Another key piece of advice often touted by EVE veterans is to not be afraid of loss. Ships and equipment are treated more like ammunition than a permanent upgrade. Sooner or later your favorite ship will likely meet an explosive fate and it’s exactly this sense of real loss that makes combat in EVE so exhilarating! Just make sure you don’t fly something you can’t afford to lose, being able to replace your ship is very handy
Next up, remember that EVE is an MMO! Look around in any area of space and you’ll find the majority of what you see is player-created. Almost every ship and every missile launched was once created by another player! One great piece of advice (for those interested) is to get involved with the community and play a role in something bigger. There are thousands of actively recruiting corporations, each with their own objectives and activities. Check out the EVE Academy video on finding a corporation to find one that suits you. They will be happy to have you, mentor you, and help you succeed in your adventures. As the saying goes – the best ship in EVE is friendship.
Finally, don’t ever be afraid of trying something new. Just because you trained into bulky armor-based Amarr ships doesn’t mean you can’t try out speedy Minmatar ships. The same applies to industry, mining, exploration, and anything else you try your hand at. If you get stuck, there are plenty of resources out there, and though EVE players are often famed for their wars, they’re always eager to help new players too. With EVE being a single-shard server, they know the impact that any new player can have on anyone else in the game!
