There’s something enthralling about a good puzzle game. Whether simple or complex, they often challenge you to think with strategy and creativity simultaneously. And while puzzle games often leave us, well, puzzled, they're also a great way to unwind as you shift through tiles searching for a hidden animation or shout from a distance to activate glowing statues. 

Here are a few of our favorite puzzle games that you can pick up on the Epic Games store and experience yourself!

1. Tetris Effect 
Tetris Effect masterfully weaves music, special effects, and stylistic backgrounds that pulse and shimmer with explosions of color. It all melds together to create an entirely immersive environment, something I never really expected from a Tetris game.

Confession: As I played through the first few levels, I actually found myself misty-eyed. Yep, you can find me over here tearing up over a game about blocks (but in my defense, the blocks are stunning.)
 

2. The Witness The Witness is a game that made me feel a lot of things: frustration, introspection, and sometimes, if I got lucky, the game made me feel very clever. With over 500 puzzles to solve, you could easily lose yourself on this colorful, serene island for hours on end. If you haven’t tried it out yet, I highly recommend - but go in with a sense of patience. Some of these puzzles left me stuck for hours… and a couple left me stuck for days!

3. LimboLimbo is an eerie little indie that you can pick up for free this week on the Epic Games store! While it’s not for the faint of heart (or the arachnophobic), the puzzles of this creepy side-scroller are oddly delightful once you manage to complete them without dying. If you like your puzzle platformers with a hint of darkness and a smidgen of horror, this is the game for you - grab it free before July 25. 

4. Gorogoa

Gorogoa is, in a single word, mesmerizing. Players are tasked with arranging painstakingly hand-illustrated panels, a simple task that doesn’t feel simple at all as you unravel the tale within. I didn’t feel like I was playing a game with Gorogoa, so much as traversing through a work of art to find what bits of story were hidden in the corners. It’s a brief yet memorable journey that I cannot recommend enough!
