Football Manager 27 pre-purchase Oct 29 | Free launch preview from Oct 29

Budding Ancelottis can take a quick trip to the touchlines before Football Manager 27 is released. Football Manager 27’s pre-purchase goes live on Oct 29 at 18:00 UTC on the Epic Games Store, along with the first stage of the Launch Preview, letting you get some pre-season practice in before the full kick-off.

“Starting at 6pm GMT on October 29, the FM27 Launch Preview will be freely playable through to 6pm GMT five days later,” according to Sega. “There’s no sign-up required – fans can simply download from their preferred platform and begin making the calls.

“Making an annual title free to play with all game modes available is believed to be an industry first and is a move that continues Sports Interactive’s efforts to strengthen relations between the studio and its community of players. Now, for this year, fans worldwide can get hands-on with FM27’s Launch Preview without any upfront cost.

“To support this, the pre-purchase window for FM27 will open only alongside the free play period, offering players 10% off and continued Launch Preview access between November 3 and the November 10 street date. Those managing on Game Pass will be able to continue their journeys through their subscriptions.

“Progress during the free play period can be continued through to the paid Launch Preview for those pre-purchasing. The story can also continue into the full game when it launches from November 10 without the need to start again.”

Enjoy some highlights of what the full game will offer when the new season starts on November 10, 2026.

Overhauled training and tactical systems

Preparation is the key to success in Football Manager. As the boss, it’s your job to ensure your team has a balanced schedule, taking into account the team’s goals and individual players’ conditioning.

The refined Training Schedule will help with that. An overhauled interface will let managers set schedules and duplicate them to keep things consistent and easily applied. The UI also lets you see your players’ load for a greater range of time ahead, which will help with keeping your team fit in the long term.

Training now assigns distinct tactical purposes to each squad. Senior squads prioritize match preparation, team cohesion, and tactical execution, allowing managers to drill specific play styles like intense pressing or build-up play. Individual training lets managers balance short-term match needs against long-term development. Linked to these training overhauls is the new Tactical Effectiveness feature, which introduces a dedicated progression system to measure and build how efficiently players carry out a manager's instructions.

Enjoy pitchside precision on match day

One of the biggest changes in modern Football Manager games is the match experience, both as a manager and as a spectator. The upgraded Match Engine has a number of changes, focused on precision, player realism, and live tactical control, to help you change the game and enjoy the spectacle.

A key addition is Tactical Tweaks, a touchline feature that lets you deploy quick adjustments, like swapping wingers or sending the goalkeeper forward for a last-minute attempt at a goal, directly from the match screen without opening full menus. You can pass on individual instructions per player, or give the whole team an order to play with more urgency. Combined with the Shouts system, which is a more emotive system to give praise or some tough love, Football Manager 27 will really put you pitchside with the tools to control the flow of the game.

On the pitch, there are more realistic movement animations, covering sprinting, acceleration, turning, and jockeying. You’ll actually be able to see if a player is getting tired after a lung-bursting run.

And you can take time to soak it all in on match day. There’s nowhere quite as emotional as a football stadium full of fans, and the new Match Engine highlights that. Flags are waved, spectators wear their favorite player’s shirt, and the crowd’s energy will react to the battles on the pitch. Each game will feel as it should, whether that’s a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon, or a late evening game in a balmy European country.

Stay ahead of the football news

Keeping track of the comings and goings of a single club is hard enough, but football is a living, breathing world. Every stat tells a story, but keeping track of what you need to know is vital. There are a number of ways Football Manager 27 does that.

The game reflects the news media’s intense scrutiny, turning those wins and losses into headlines. It starts before the season kicks off, with previews of what’s to come. There are mid-season reports, job speculation, and more, all designed to help you easily understand what’s going on both inside and outside of your club. You can tailor a ‘For You’ section with your interests, too.

The Club, Competition, and Nation screens have all been redesigned. You can see a team’s identity, history, current manager, top scorers, key performers, latest news, and recent transfer activity without having to navigate lots of different menus.

In the Competitions & New Competitions Hub, there’s high-level visibility over leagues, with highlighted dynamic data points that include top statistical performers, Team of the Week, upcoming fixtures, and lots more.

And, as always, the transfer market plays a major role, and the excitement of deadline day in particular.

Agent offers now appear continuously on the Recruitment screen, gradually ramping up toward deadline day rather than appearing abruptly. Young players increasingly prioritize first-team game time in negotiations, making stepping-stone promises far more impactful. Additionally, scout reports now highlight existing sell-on clauses, prompting selling clubs to demand higher fees to protect their margins, while AI managers actively weigh experience and leadership when assembling shortlists. Paired with updated Squad Cost Ratio rules and global spending adjustments, these enhancements deliver greater accuracy and depth.

That’s just a taste of what’s coming to Football Manager 27. Find out for yourself from Oct 29!
