Today I’m going to introduce you to a few of the new enemies you’ll be facing in Fire & Darkness.
The Flameblood
The first thing you have to know about the Flameblood tribe is that they are living fuel. When a spirit of fire has enough material from the outside world to form a body, they undergo significant - and terrifying - changes. During this transition, the spirit develops powers (such as the Flameblood Warlock’s ability to superheat its allies, giving them additional speed and strength), but there’s a cost! Flameblood tribesmen are always burning, and their lifespan is dictated by how long they can remain burning, which is why running into a larger Flameblood warrior is a rare thing. If you are unlucky enough and happen to run into one though, get ready for a very challenging fight.
Flameblood Devastator These walking natural disasters are among the most powerful warriors of the Flameblood. Known as Devastators, they are the vanguard for every Flameblood swarm, relentlessly charging ahead until either they or their enemies are destroyed.
Tips:
- The Devastator will often slash the ground with its heavy molten blades, releasing a wave of lava and fire.If you are quick on the sticks (or with a mouse), a well timed evade could literally save your life.
- The Devastator cannot be flinched or staggered by your attacks, so plan your battle tactics accordingly!
Flameblood WarbeastWhen spirits of fire possess certain creatures, they sometimes merge with features of the nearby terrain. Flameblood Warbeasts are formed when a relatively harmless flame turtle merges with the volcanic rock of the Fire Realm. Not only does the beast gain tremendous strength, its shell hardens into something that even the most powerful weapons struggle to damage.
Tip:
- Because of their heavily armored shell, knights that learn to attack Warbeasts from the front tend to live longer.
Flameblood GargoyleNew Flameblood warriors often take the form of a Gargoyle. These creatures make up the majority of the Flameblood swarms and are able to hover for short periods of time.
Tips:
- When a Gargoyle swoops down to attack you, execute a well-timed parry to knock your enemy to the ground.
- Hovering Gargoyles throw javelins, so be on guard for those ranged attacks! If you feel like forcing them to change tactics, try getting in close.
Flameblood WarlockFlameblood Warlocks draw their power from the communal spirit-mind of the Flameblood to enhance their fellow warriors, but this comes at the cost of their own life spans. When a Warlock activates their powers, its allies will become superheated, moving faster and dealing additional fire damage.
Tips:
- If possible, always try to focus on Warlocks first when initiating combat to prevent them from powering up their allies.
- Enemies superheated by Warlocks have blue flames. Be extra careful engaging with these enemies.
These are just a small number of the new enemies ready to put your shiny new Valorplate skins, Ascended gear, and Cursed weapons to the test - My team and I can’t wait to see how you guys fare in the Fire Realm!
