Introducing Epic Web Shops
Today, we’re announcing the launch of Epic’s Web Shops for mobile and PC, powered by the Epic Games Store. This is a new way for developers to sell in-game content directly to players using Epic’s global distribution network and scaled ecommerce platform. This new service is now available for mobile and PC games through Epic's self-publishing tools. Once live, Web Shops are listed on your product page via the new ‘Web Shop’ tab on PC and web. Shops will be available on mobile app product pages natively within the Epic Games Store mobile app later this year.
Web Shops are available worldwide for mobile games and governed by Apple and Google’s store steering rules in each territory. This feature has immediate value in the U.S., where a court injunction allows steering and will become highly attractive on Android on October 22nd when the court injunction forcing the Google Play Store to allow steering goes into effect.
As part of the rollout, we’re partnering with Codename Entertainment, who have already launched the first live Web Shop for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms—showcasing what’s possible with this new service. Purchases made through this Web Shop will work across the Epic Games Store versions in the US on PC, iOS and Android and also available on the versions distributed through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Web Shops are built to give developers freedom and control over how and where they monetize, and are open to all games on all stores - there is no requirement to distribute the game through the Epic Games Store. These shops use Epic’s payment system and integrate seamlessly with Epic account services like Epic Rewards and Epic account balance (formerly “Wallet balance”).
Back in June, Fortnite announced that players can redeem our new Fortnite gift cards (available at select retailers) to add to their account balance. Players can make purchases directly through Web Shops with their account balance.

Web Shops are available today through the Epic Developer Portal for all mobile and PC products.
