Greetings Sharks! Myself and the Truth Quest team here at Tripwire are so excited to finally bring this brand new Maneater adventure to you today. It’s a wild ride full of fun new challenges, a darker narrative, and a brand new area to explore. We cannot wait for you to get your hands on it!

To celebrate the launch, and go on a trip down memory lane, I gathered together my thoughts around how this expansion came to be. A lot of ideas were thrown around initially, but this was truly the one we all fell in love with. Read on to learn about Maneater: Truth Quest, what inspired the story, and what players can expect when they dive in for the very first time.

Inventing the Conspira-sea
The core idea for Truth Quest came from Scaley Pete's dialog in the base game. He talks about his father, who was also a fisherman, saying that the mega shark could be a Government Experiment. This is marked in the corner of the screen by "#Gubment Experiment" in the original cutscenes. That line was the seed that started the whole DLC. We also asked ourselves “What if the same thing that's happening to our shark started happening in other rare instances as well? To maintain your Queen of the Ocean status you'll have to take those animals down.
Maneater Truth Quest Dlc HeliNarratively we wanted to go a little darker this time with the story to set it aside thematically from the base game. This can be seen in the overall tone of the DLC as well as the story itself and what's going on with Chris Parnell's character, Trip Westhaven as the story progresses. We watch Trip fall deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theory. Following the shark as the hero of the story; helping Trip unravel what is going on with the NWO. The story starts out with our shark catching the scent trail of an unknown creature and is quickly whisked away to the island. As the DLC begins we follow the scent trail to a hole in the net.

Shark-en Your Skills
Truth Quest requires the base game be beaten, which gives us a great baseline of skills that we expect players to master.Truth Quest hones those base skills further by challenging players with two new objective types: "Failure to Communicate" and "Time Trial".

Failure to Communicate requires players to tailwhip objects (especially explosives) at a satellite uplink array. These uplinks cut off communication between groups within the NWO as you move through Plover island and eventually back to Port Clovis.
Time Trial also doesn't just expect the player to be quick, but also agile, sometimes asking the player to jump up and out of the water to hit each ring. Players will master agility in and out of the water to complete every Time Trial objective.

There are even a few completely unmarked objectives. Followers of Trip Westhaven's show Truth Quest, these “Questers” can be found all throughout Plover Island and Port Clovis -  unraveling mysteries in both areas. Their tinfoil armor bounces off any attempt to uncover them, so you will have to discover them with your eyes and ears the old fashioned way.

There you have it folks! I’m super proud of the hardworking team here at Tripwire for making such an amazing expansion to our original ShaRkPG, and I can’t wait for all of you to become bona-fide Questers yourselves!
