Might & Magic: Chess Royale Introduces Game-Changing Heroes, New Rewards, and More

Before the Heroes Reborn update, all players began every match of Might & Magic: Chess Royale on the same foot. Progression outside of a match was tied only toward your rank and cosmetics. Now, you’ll be able to progress outside of matches by unlocking and leveling up Heroes. Heroes come in one of three tiers: uncommon, rare, and epic. When you begin each match, you’ll select three Heroes from your roster, each of whom will synergize with specific units. These Heroes aren’t placed on the board, but rather oversee the action and add desirable effects to your units. Only one Hero is active at a time, and when you lose a round you lose a Hero. The first Hero you select will provide you with units of the same synergy, but after that, your unit selection is random, as usual. Active Heroes provide passive buffs throughout a fight, but also have unique abilities that automatically activate when a specific condition is met during a battle.
As you place higher and higher, and even win matches, you’ll be rewarded with Medals that you can use to open Chests that unlock more Heroes and expand your roster. You can also use those Tokens to level up the Heroes you already own. Leveling up Heroes increases their core or secondary stats, and gives you the ability to start battle with a specific unit already on the board. Players who wish to progress more quickly can purchase crystals to unlock chests faster, but everything in the game can be earned just by playing.
