The sequel follows a mother named Ro and her child on a journey about motherhood and independence. The developers at ustwo games made this mother-child relationship the core of Monument Valley 2, weaving the overall narrative into the game's puzzles, solutions, and presentation.

As in the first game, Monument Valley 2 is a window into a universe of seemingly impossible and impassable geometry. In this turn-based game, you play as one of 16 tribes (each with a different culture and different proclivities), exploring the world, developing technologies, and waging war against opposing tribes, all in service of controlling the titular land of Polytopia. 

You can play The Battle of Polytopia solo or with players around the world in multiplayer. In Perfection mode, it’s about upping your score and building a civilization with limited moves. In Domination mode, it’s your job to eliminate every opponent. In Creative mode, you can explore and experiment without focusing on the competition.
