Old World’s Rise of Carthage campaign returns with the release of its third scenario, The Rise of Rome, launching June 17th 2021.

Where Riches and Influence saw players establish dominance over the Phoenician colonies, The Rise of Rome challenges players to survive in the face of conflict from Rome. Carthage has become a powerhouse empire but as with all powerful nations, there are those who threaten to upset the status quo with warfare.

Due to the manipulative schemes of the Mamertine mercenaries, Rome has taken control of the Greek town of Messana, expelling Carthaginian forces. And so begins the First Punic War, the setting for this scenario.

Naval Plagiarism: Carthage’s navy has proven to be instrumental to their success but it seems the tide (pun intended) may be changing... It seems the conniving Romans, after securing a Carthaginian ship, have developed their own Navy from our works.

Re-live the Battle of Cape Ecnomus: One of the largest battles in history, The Battle of Cape Ecnomus saw Carthage face off against 600 Roman navy ships. While we can’t promise 600 ships, this battle will be featured in the scenario, giving players a chance to experience the immensity of such an overwhelming battle.

I will survive!: The primary objective in this scenario is to survive. Carthage is starting on the backfoot and players must regain control of the war by holding onto settlements in Sicily, maintaining naval dominance and eventually taking the battle to Rome to secure victory.

Alter the timelines: Scenario three brings with it a greater ability for players to alter the course of history and create a new timeline. What will the future hold if players help Carthage to perform better and achieve victory in this altered timeline?

As with Old World in general, we hope players use this scenario and others to explore lesser-known historical figures, nations and moments.
