Hi everybody, I’m Philomena, the lead designer of Niche and I’m happy to tell you a bit more about the game now that it was released on the Epic Game Store.

The story of Niche began when I couldn’t decide whether to study biology or game design. Luckily, there was a solution: Making a game about biology. Niche was born and kept growing thanks to its amazing community (which mostly consisted of cat- and horse breeders at the time). More people joined the team and we were able to finance the project via a Kickstarter that received a lot of support from the science community. The game grew into a full product over time. As a way to say thank you for all the help received, we recently made Niche available for schools free of charge. It is now used to teach heredity and population genetics in classrooms.
