RAVEN2 class guide: Every tank, DPS, and healer explained

RAVEN2's classes fall into familiar archetypes that you may have seen in other MMOs, but there are a few key differences that you should be aware of before committing to any of them. The Divine Caster is the primary healing class, for example, but the Deathbringer can also support allies with healing as well.
To save you the stress, this guide explains all nine RAVEN2 classes, including their strengths, weaknesses, and signature abilities. This list also includes the Gunslinger, the first post-launch class to join the game.
All RAVEN2 classes
When you start playing RAVEN2, you'll be given a choice between nine classes for your character.

Assassin
The Assassin class is your typical fast-paced melee DPS class. Wielding a set of twin daggers and relying on quick dodges and invisibility to confuse opponents, the Assassin is one of the best DPS classes in RAVEN2.
There's a high skill ceiling for Assassins, however, and you'll need to practice your rotation and become familiar with your skillset to make the most of your abilities. Assassins are fast, but they don't have a lot of defense. One or two mistakes can quickly lead to your death.
The Assassin class is also one of the best choices for PvP, provided you can land those last-second dodges and demonstrate mastery over your skills.
Berserker
On the opposite end of the spectrum is the Berserker, a hulking melee class that wields a gigantic greatsword. Despite its appearances, the Berserker isn't necessarily a tank. It's closer to Diablo's Barbarians, complete with a matching Rage mechanic and devastating AOE abilities.
While the Berserker class has incredibly strong damage output, it's lacking in mobility. Attack animations are slow, and you can find yourself trailing behind your allies when dodging boss attacks. Like the Assassin, however, the Berserker rewards players who put in the time to master attack timings.
Playing as a Berserker, you'll also have a decent amount of self-sustain. Lifesteal will keep your HP topped off and let your healers focus on other party members, and you can knock down enemies to deal even more damage to them.
Deathbringer
One of RAVEN2's most popular classes, the Deathbringer is a necromancer that summons specters to control the battlefield. This class can do a little bit of everything, from debuffing to healing to everything in-between.
The Deathbringer has some of the best crowd control capabilities in the entire game, making it perfect for dealing with hordes of enemies in group encounters. There's a lot to manage, but if you can keep track of your MP, your team will be thankful for all your assistance. This class is also great for solo players, since it doesn't have any glaring weaknesses.
If you can't decide which class to play in RAVEN2, just go with the Deathbringer. As a jack of all trades, it'll give you a great opportunity to learn the basic combat mechanics without any significant drawbacks.
Destroyer
The Destroyer is one of RAVEN2's most unique classes. It's a ranged DPS class that specializes in crossbows, but the Destroyer's version of a crossbow is actually closer to a shotgun.
This class has relatively low range, but its crossbow blasts are massive AOE attacks that can cut through large crowds of enemies. The Destroyer's attacks also debuff enemies with a range of crowd control effects as well. Every hit is remarkably satisfying as a Destroyer, and your allies will definitely feel your presence on the battlefield.
The Destroyer's main weakness is mobility. It's very slow, and its escape abilities have long cooldowns. You can get by in PvE, but facing an aggressive duelist in PvP is a death sentence.
Divine Caster
The Divine Caster is RAVEN2's primary healing class. If you're always playing support characters or healers, this is the class for you.
Every party usually wants at least one Divine Caster, so you'll never have a problem finding a group to take on dungeons and other content. Divine Casters has unmatched support capabilities that go beyond healing, and its buffs are especially potent compared to other classes.
It's not just a heal bot, though. The Divine Caster still outputs a steady stream of damage, and you can make yourself and your allies stronger with an array of buffs. The Divine Caster can also debuff enemies, reducing their attack speed and disrupting their movements.
You can't go wrong with this class, and it can find success in all types of content, including PvP.
Elementalist
The Elementalist is the primary mage class in RAVEN2, casting spells and unleashing devastating elemental attacks. It's one of the strongest DPS classes in the game.
Playing as an Elementalist, you'll have access to an incredibly varied skillset. You can burn enemies to apply damage over time, shield yourself in ice to block incoming damage, and rain lightning down from above to destroy your enemies. Just try to stay behind your tanks, since Elementalists don't have a lot of defense.
Your team will definitely appreciate your status ailments, and this is a safe choice for beginners and MMO veterans alike.
Gunslinger
RAVEN2's newest class, the Gunslinger, is an incredibly aggressive DPS class that wields a trio of guns. It's very hard to play effectively, but it rewards mastery if you're willing to learn.
Twin pistols are the Gunslinger's primary weapons, delivering rapid-fire damage that can be interrupted at any time with swift dodges to avoid attacks. For massive single-target damage, you can pull out a huge shotgun and blast enemies at point-blank range.
The Gunslinger can also use special ammo to apply various buffs and debuffs, giving it even greater utility for your team. It's easily one of the most fun classes to play in RAVEN2.
Night Ranger
The Night Ranger is RAVEN2's archer class. If you want to use a bow, this is the class for you.
Night Rangers have a very straightforward game plan that involves pelting enemies with arrows from a safe distance. You can fire arrows surprisingly fast as a Night Ranger, and you can also buff yourself with special abilities that boost critical hit chance and overall attack damage.
The Night Ranger class doesn't have a lot of AOE options, though, so you'll need to squad up with a Berserker, Destroyer, or similar class to handle large crowds. You can easily top the damage charts against bosses as a Night Ranger, however, especially if you can keep your buffs active.
Vanguard
The Vanguard is the best tank class in RAVEN2. Equipped with a sword and shield, this class plays like a classic knight or paladin.
Vanguards may not have the highest damage output, but their defensive capabilities are unmatched. Their shields allow them to block incoming attacks and stun enemies to buy healers some time to top everyone's HP off. If you can time your blocks right, you can parry incoming attacks for even greater results.
This is one of the most straightforward classes in RAVEN2, and it's a solid choice for beginners. Being a tank can be intimidating, but you'll have more than enough defensive tools at your disposal as a Vanguard.
