REANIMAL guide: How to collect all five Coffins and unlock the secret ending

The most thorough explorers will even come across strange coffins hidden throughout REANIMAL, and collecting all five of these will unlock a secret ending that adds a new cutscene after the credits roll. It's an exciting post-credits stinger that brings everything full circle.
Our guide will show where you can find all five hidden coffins in REANIMAL so you can unlock the secret ending.
How to Get REANIMAL's Secret Ending
To get the secret ending in REANIMAL and earn the Friends Reunited achievement, you have to find five hidden Coffins during a single playthrough. You have to get all five in a single run, and replaying the game via chapter select won't count.
Even if you've found all five Coffins, you still have to finish the game in order for the achievement to pop. Since the achievement doesn't unlock as soon as you find the last Coffin, make sure you're keeping track of the ones you've discovered so you don't accidentally skip over one.
Coffin 1 - Dead in the Water
This Coffin is found in the very first chapter of REANIMAL. After making it through the factory at the beginning of the chapter, you'll find a broken trolley in need of a new wheel.
Find the wheel inside the nearby building, then hop on and make your way across the bridge deeper into the forest. Across the bridge, you'll enter a tunnel if you keep going straight—but if you pay attention, you'll notice a branching path with more rail tracks going offscreen to the right.
Continue to ride the trolley into the tunnel until it lets you get off, then backtrack and follow the branching railway. Pass through the wrecked train car and you'll find the first coffin in a secluded area.
Coffin 2 - After the Flood
This Coffin appears in the third chapter of REANIMAL, which starts once you get control of the boat after the climactic battle with Sniffer.
In this boat section, the path ahead is blocked by exploding mines. Thankfully, your newfound harpoon weapon will let you safely dispatch them from a distance. To continue the story, you need to head into the flooded hotel.
Before doing that, however, make a right and head past the destroyed building that led to the harpoon. You'll see a pair of mines blocking the entrance to another building at the end of the street.
Blow them up and take the boat along the path to reach a small area with an ominous glowing door. Head inside to find the next Coffin.
Coffin 3 - After the Flood (Again)
This Coffin can also be found in Chapter 3, but you'll return to this area towards the end of REANIMAL if you miss it the first time around. This is another boat section, this time centered around a giant cannon in the center of a lake.
Behind the cannon, you can find a small cave. Head through the tunnel and bring the boat ashore to find the third Coffin. If you miss it, you can come back during Chapter Six (Nobody Left Behind) after defeating the Mother in the clock tower area.
Coffin 4 - No Shelter
This Coffin is located in the clock tower, accessed during Chapter 4 of REANIMAL. After the boat section with the cannon, your group will take a quick bus ride to a new area with the clock tower.
Play through the entire section normally, beating up all the enemies until you reach a room where your friend is being lowered into a hole in the floor. Clear the room—but don't use the wheel to lift him up just yet.
Instead, go through the door in the bottom-left corner of the room. It'll lead you straight to the next Coffin. Make sure you get the Coffin before helping your friend, otherwise you'll be taken to a new area with no way back!
Coffin 5 - The Spoils
This Coffin is found in Chapter 7, near the end of REANIMAL. It's very easy to miss since it's located in a hallway with tons of exploding enemies.
To find it, pass through the trenches at the start of the chapter until you reach a hospital. The building is filled with exploding soldiers who will pop grenades and chase you down. There's a full room of them followed by a hallway with a few more soldiers laying in beds.
The Coffin can be found in the hallway with the exploding soldiers. Run past them all so they blow up, then turn around and check out the corner. One of the explosions will blow a hole in the wall and reveal a new area. If you reach the area with the monstrous sheep scene, you've gone too far!
The Coffin is on the other side of that blown-up wall. Just grab onto the wheel and spin it with your partner to open the hatch, then climb down the ladder into the area with the Coffin.
Once you've found the fifth and final Coffin, just play through to the end of the game to unlock the secret ending. Once the credits roll and the special scene plays, you'll get the Friends Reunited achievement to commemorate your hard work.
