Hello Survivors!
Today we launched Update 4: Great Minds, the fourth major content update to our post-apocalyptic survival colony builder, Surviving the Aftermath. The Great Minds update focuses on expanding gameplay options between societies and brings a totally rebuilt tech tree to our players. This update also includes a visual overhaul - now your colony and its citizens look better than ever!

Here’s a quick rundown of all the key features added to the game:
Great Minds: Societies on the World Map now have leaders! You’ll come face-to-face with these leaders whenever you interact with a society. Currently, there are 10 different leaders you can encounter, each with their own backstory and traits.This is the beginning of our grand plan to expand interactions between societies further to include diplomacy, improved trading, and more. You’ll want to stay tuned for more updates about those features!

Rebuilt Tech Tree: The tech tree now features five main research lines, with each research branch including alternative paths and optional sub-branches. In addition to requiring science points, research now takes time to complete. Researching new technologies is no easy feat when you’re living in the aftermath of the apocalypse, and while you have more options at your disposal, each breakthrough will feel impactful to your colony. You now have 78 unlockable technologies; however this will increase in each update.

Visual Overhaul: Our team has turned the graphics nob up to 11 with this update. Post-processing and lighting effects have been drastically improved. All colonist 3D models have been updated, vehicle visuals got an upgrade (now with sound!), the colony Gate now opens when accepting a survivor group, and we’ve added general visual fidelity enhancements across the board.


In addition to the new features, this update includes more events, UX/UI improvements, and a host of Quality of Life updates to enhance the experience for our players. We’re always listening to your feedback and working with our community to improve the game.
