Depending on how old you are you had little to no choice in controllers. If you are a member of the pioneering age of computer games, you vividly remember your first console and the controller it came with. In my case, it was the Video Pac my father bought. Essentially the controller was a box with a button and a stick. Ergonomics? Never heard of that. With this box, you steered the little squares that were as crude as the – in a lack of better words – controlling device.

As games evolved, so did the ways of controlling them, but it still took a while for me to be really positively surprised. And I didn’t think this could happen soon. But it was a small developer studio from California that tried to go another way and get rid of the controller altogether – well, sort of… Left, right and jump are still a thing. But the use of voice is the essential part. The beautiful One Hand Clapping is a pretty neat 2D-Platformer that uses your voice to solve puzzles and you should try it.   
Your quest is to save your world from Silence Incarnate by using your voice – you have to sing (or hum or make any kind of tones) to survive. Seems a bit cringy at first but believe me, you get used to it and the sound of your voice. And that’s what it’s all about: It wants you to get connected to your voice and not be afraid to use it. All in all, that indie game sends wholesome positive vibes and lets you feel good in the end.
And it works! During the gameplay, your vocal tasks get increasingly sophisticated, and before you know it you are singing duets with that one strange, colorful but somewhat cute bird.
I may even go so far and say this game could be the first in an entirely new genre, as it is not some Karaoke game or other singing games – but a “One Hand Clapping-like”. A game that needs vocal/tonal input to play and solve.
