Step into a new chapter of Commandos: Origins with the “Shadows over Crete” DLC, a gripping 4-mission campaign unfolding in the aftermath of one of WWII’s most infamous invasions: The Battle of Crete, a clash which made history as the first large-scale airborne invasion – Operation Mercury.

Strike fast, think smart! Your trusted squad of elite soldiers, the Green Beret, the Sapper, the Sniper, the Driver, the Marine and the Spy are sent to the battle-scarred landscapes of a paradise in ruins. Support the Cretan resistance, led by the fierce and loyal Eleni Andris, with your Commandos by sabotaging and spying on the German invaders in challenging guerilla missions.

Through the invasion of Crete by airborne forces, the Allied troops suffered a crushing defeat, and the island was left war-scorched and under German occupation.

  • As a renowned elite squad the Commandos are called in with the odds are stacked against them. They are deployed to support the resistance, led by Eleni Andris, with guerrilla missions against the Axis occupants.

Claymore Game Studios realized what made the original Commandos games so great, retained the heart and soul, and sanded off all the prickly edges. Commandos: Origins is a love letter to the originals in everything it does.

Commandos Origins does an admirable job bringing the real-time-tactics gameplay to a modern era. There's a lot to love in the level design and tactical toolkit afforded. I just wish some of the bugs and performance issues were ironed out so I could enjoy them more. Unless you're a patient gamer who enjoys real-time-tactics games, or a long-time Commandos aficionado, you might want to wait for one or two updates from now to try this out.
