Das Unglück am Djatlow-Pass ist eine wahre Begebenheit, die sich im Winter 1959 ereignete. Neun erfahrene Alpinisten brachen zu einem Trip in das nördliche Ural-Gebirge auf, der fatal endete. Die Köper der Wanderer wurden verstreut am Hang des Kholat Syakhl gefunden.
Russische Ermittler kamen zu dem Schluss, dass "eine höhere Gewalt" für ihren Tod verantwortlich war.

Kholat's narrative exploration is ambitious, and the real world base for its plot, the recreation of exploring a bewildering and unforgiving landscape and the audio-visual design were all superb. But for what it gets right, the mounting flaws in its design only become more evident and distracting.
