What games is this most like?
When I came up with the idea for Project Canopy, the original idea was having game with the mechanics and gameplay similar to Subnautica, set in a world like Avatar. So Project Canopy is similar in mechanics to a lot of survival games with harvesting, crafting, looting, building while trying to manage your hunger, oxygen, thirst and health, but one key thing I try to make core to the gameplay is being rewarded for exploration. That means the more you look around, the more you will get out of it, both in experiences and in loot.
Will this game be multiplayer?
That's the goal. I have a working build with multiplayer functioning and I have the subsystems in place to enable that when ready, but my current focus is getting a solid single-player demo ready with 1-2 hours of gameplay and then I will get multiplayer working after that.
What is included in Early Access?
You will get the full game with the existing content plus any additional content that is included in the base game of Project Canopy.
What is the current state of the game?
We are currently in the Pre-Alpha phase. This means that we are building prototypes for the demo and still building out core functionality that we want to include before going into Early Access. Performance (frame rate) is poor relative to what we want in the finished game as well as variety of flora and fauna. See the "About This Game" section for more information about what features are implemented so far.
How long will the game be in Early Access?
We can't accurately predict how long Early Access will take as the game will evolve over time. We expect at least approximately three years, but potentially more depending on end scope of the game.
How often will you be updating the game?
I will be updating the game as much as possible to include updates.
Will my progress be saved during updates?
We will try to make it so saves work between updates but it's not guaranteed.
Will the price change when the game leaves Early Access?
We plan to gradually increase the price of Project Canopy as we ship new content and features.
