Signal Veil is a classic third-person survival horror game with a strong focus on psychological terror, emotional storytelling, and a 90s anime-inspired aesthetic. The story follows Aki Mizuno, a teenage girl whose mother mysteriously disappears without a trace, leaving behind a final gift: a cellphone with supernatural abilities. Through this device, Aki confronts creatures born from emotional trauma and hidden memories while investigating a series of disappearances and uncovering the truth about herself within Nishikawa High School.

The inherited cellphone vibrates, emits unusual sounds, and displays interference whenever spiritual presences or lingering memories are nearby. It serves as Aki's primary tool for detecting enemies before they fully manifest, identifying corrupted areas, and revealing clues and signals invisible to the naked eye.

Hostile entities can be fought directly, but only after they have been exposed through the spiritual system. Before becoming vulnerable, they must be disturbed using the phone's flash, provoked into revealing themselves, or forced to expose their spiritual weak points. Each encounter requires observation, timing, and careful resource management rather than brute force alone.

Aki must carefully manage limited resources, including medicine, key items, and mystical weapons. In addition, her emotional stability is constantly threatened by hostile entities, corrupted locations, and traumatic events. As her mental state deteriorates, her perception of reality becomes distorted, altering both the environment and enemy behavior.

Players explore the halls and facilities of Nishikawa High School, a place that initially appears ordinary but gradually transforms under the influence of supernatural forces. Every location is designed to build suspense, conceal secrets, and encourage careful observation as players uncover the mysteries hidden within the school.
