Items can be obtained by selecting the purchased content in the "DLC" tab of your Inventory, accessed via the Main Menu ingame.
Once obtained, these items can be equipped in the "Adornments" section of the "Loadout" tab, accessed via the "Check / Change Ship Loadout" menu.
