Why Early Access?
As a solo developer, it is paramount that projects have strong support from their user-base. Therefore, since its inception, my hope for Adapt has been to have players be as involved as possible with the long-term development of the game through both feedback regarding live features and in evaluating potential future content and game mechanics. Because of this focus on continued user involvement, Early Access is a powerful tool for creating and maintaining community participation.
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
Because many of the game‘s core mechanics are already in place, most of Adapt’s future development will be centered around three main avenues: the addition of supporting mechanics (map, weather, and event progression, additional abilities, etc...), content (species parts, new adaptations, plantlife, terrain features, etc…), and, the ‘less illustrious’, ongoing stability and performance improvements.
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
The primary focus of Adapt’s development thus far has been securing the foundations of the game, as well as the aesthetic and “feel” of the world. As a result, at initial pre-alpha launch, the game will likely feel a bit easy, and a bit unregulated for most players. Major environmental shifts, events, tutorial mechanics and stats are all important upcoming features designed to enrich Adapt’s play, and create a more story-driven game experience; but have intentionally not been fully implemented prior to early access launch to prioritize refinement of the foundational elements of the game.
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
There are no formal plans for any pricing change, however, current pricing for Adapt is reflective of the game’s incomplete status. The final price of the game will be re-assessed and ultimately determined based on the state of the game at full release.
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
User feedback and engagement are paramount to the future of Adapt. Both early access, and interested full release players are encouraged to take part in Adapt’s pre-alpha community. All feedback, ideas, bug reports, and inquiries can be directed to one of Adapt’s primary development portals. I keep personal tabs on these tools, and work as directly as possible with the game’s supporters.
