STATION
About this game
Station is an indie game with a minimalistic approach to object design, utilizing some free or attribution-required assets. It's relatively small—up to 2GB depending on the player's OS—and should run even on modest hardware.
It uses common gameplay inputs through the keyboard (WASD, space, Q, E, C) and mouse (look, shoot), with support for gamepad controls.
Levels are procedural generated on level load.
The game saves player progress automatically, either upon player "death" or the successful completion of a level. It also saves statistical data, which the player can check through the Statistics menu.
The events in this game are set on a series of remote scientific outposts throughout the Solar System. These outposts are called Stations.
The player assumes the role of an "operator," remotely controlling the recon-combat robot called the "mannequin."
The task is to investigate a series of stations to figure out why humans had to abandon them.
This is not a horror game.
The challenge in this game is to navigate through a series of stations with limited resources in a hard-to-orient environment full of danger.
The first two levels are brief tutorials that teach the player how to move and use screen information. The next two levels are partly tutorials and partly gameplay, gradually increasing the challenge level. Subsequent levels introduce more complexity to the gameplay.
The game offers three difficulty levels: Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. Normal difficulty is the default and recommended for a first playthrough. On more complex difficulties, the player will be further challenged with restricted orientation and resources. Very Hard difficulty additionally favors the enemies.
The player can choose their own approach to the challenges: offensive (aggressive), tactical (balanced), or defensive (ghost, recon-like movement). However, combat cannot be completely avoided.
Play time is not limited.
Levels can be restarted or loaded upon request after the player successfully passes the level. For example, Level 8 can be loaded anytime after the player has successfully progressed to Level 9.
Along with Epic achievements, there are several hidden in-game achievements that will appear in the game start room once they are obtained.
The game contains references to great literature, cinema, and music, aiming to credit the authors and spark the player's interest in these works.
The game aims to improve the player's orientation, planning, resource management skills, and patience.
