UE5 Procedural Generation

Quantum Island and any other maps & game modes we create use UE5 Procedural Generation. PCG allows us the ability to easily roll out a fresh variant of the map each patch and provides us the ability to make fast changes to rebalance and shake up the gameplay around our content update rollouts. In the future, as UE5 runtime PCG becomes more stable, we plan to consider PCG at runtime as well.

What started as an unreleased novel over 6 years ago has become a living world. In the darkest hour following the death of the competitive scene in our favorite MMO in mid-2018, the world of Pawan was born. The novel was nearing release, when in January 2021 our experience of playing a popular indie title with a meteoric rise catapulted our belief that a small team could achieve a game of dreams. Over the next year, we created a vertical slice in Unity and had every potential investor we met with slam the door in our faces. Realizing the game in Unity hadn't met our vision, we changed development to Unreal Engine 5 in August of 2022. Two years later, we are proud to bring you the game that represents the first glimpse into the true world of Pawan. The stories yet told are heavily inspired from a legendary time when a Game of Guilds occurred. The world of Pawan in many ways has a past that mirrors that tumultuous time. The Pupona are waking.

Player data such as IDs, playtime, and other metrics will be stored in a variety of database backend services we use. This is a seasonal competitive 'live service' game. Your ownership is that of access to the current updated version of our game and any versions of 'throwback events' for the original seasons we may do in the future. Some elements of your character's progression may be wiped occasionally for new seasons of the game. This is our vision for this product and is done to foster a "MMO Fresh-wipe like" experience that keeps the game fresh, dynamic, and interesting for years to come. Wipes are planned to occur every 6 months but may occur sooner or later depending on player feedback, team capabilities, and a variety of other factors. We will do our best to communicate the dates of these upcoming wipes as we nail down timelines. The cost and difficulty of running servers and databases for this game as a team of two, (or small team at the time you may be reading this) may lead us into difficult times. Example, if the game rapidly explodes in popularity, we may see periods of long queue times, server down-times or unexpected issues arise with our databases ability to handle inflows and outflows. Please bare with us during times of loss of service and know that we are working to grow and fix the problems as fast as we can. The current team pre-launch is a team of two developers. We will do our best to update the game regularly, and if our revenue allows aggressively review growth options to support updates into the long future. Our goal is to grow this game and community as large as we can, but are not certain of what that future looks like and as such can make no guarantees. We reserve the right to revoke this ownership to access privilege for any reason. Examples of reasons we may revoke access for: Using 3rd-party software to gain an unfair advantage. Intentionally dying to the enemy team repeatedly for multiple games. Using derogatory language in voice chats or text chats. Or a multitude of other situations that we will review on a case by case basis. At the end of the day, we are gamers who became developers and understand people make mistakes from time to time. Users who have any history of seizures due to flashing lights, special visual effects, or have had any previous medical issue caused by a video game should not purchase and play this title. There are many special effects, flashing lights, loud sound effects, and many other things in this game that could cause issue in these individuals. For our soundtrack through Soundraw, we reserve the rights to our licenses and expressly discourage anyone from infringing upon our rights as the sole license holders. In the future, if we have enough success, we may release a large game mode similar to a full MMO and we may need to lock this new mode behind an additional expansion paywall to support its development. As such we state the following, your ownership guarantee includes the War of Souls mode and may include additional game modes as we expand, such as a mass survival type mode. Any modes however besides War of Souls is not guaranteed to come with purchase, though it is our current intention and desire to add additional modes or experiences. We reserve the right to release a new game mode restricted to holders of a battlepass subscription or owners of a DLC expansion if we deem it necessary. We value the trust of this community above all else. We bootstrapped this company with no funding. We want to keep our company with as little funding and outside influences as possible—because we aren't here for greed, we want to massively reinvest, and fulfill our vision of this universe in what we dream may one day organically become a large franchise with movies, board games, additional video games, and maybe more.
