In Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale, take command of a fleet of pirate ships and embark on a journey across the Caribbean in search of gold and glory. But avast ye and sail ho, for ye are not the only fish in the sea! Other trading convoys have ventured out, always pointing their spyglass at loot – time to pillage and relieve them from the burden of drowning in riches! Weigh anchor, hoist the mizzen and chase that Spanish Treasure fleet, yo ho ho!
Here arr some waves of treasure from our QA:
“During testing we once had a build where every sea animal had fallen in love with our ship, literally all of them following us closely behind, hiding under the ship whenever it stopped. We almost went mad!”
We also asked our QA matey for their personal favourite features of the game, one of them being the ship customization:“I have sunk countless hours into customizing my proud pirate ship ‘The Flying Grizzly’.”
When raiding other convoys you have the chance to look absolutely fabulous while doing so! Many customization options will make your fleet shipshape – upgrades for weaponry, hull, mast or figureheads allow for more than 360 unique loadouts! If you want to have tentacles on your ship hull, why not? You do you, lad!
Ready your cannons or get keelhauled! As a second favourite feature, he mentioned the naval battles:“Complex tactical naval battles make me use my wits like never before.”
The turn-based battles will demand your tactical genius while you fight on a hexagonal grid of epic proportions. Don’t get blown away though – the gusts of wind influence the number of movement points and are a vital part of your strategic decisions.
Lastly, our QA matey advised us to always keep an eye on the morale of the crew:“You’re always on the edge of the seat trying to keep your EPIC crew happy so that they won’t start a mutiny.”
Remember the whispers of mutiny below the decks can lead to nasty outcome. Don’t be too greedy and be sure to split the haul of spoils and riches or you will be the one walking the plank. Your rules (‘articles of capture’) define your objectives, so you better stay true to your words!
