Train Sim World® 4: ScotRail BR Class 158 Sprinter DMU

Sprint in circles out of Edinburgh, across inter-city rails and along the Firth of Forth – Skyhook Games’ BR Class 158 makes a new appearance on Rivet Games’ Edinburgh - Glasgow and Fife Circle Line routes for Train Sim World 4! Sporting the Saltire insignia of ScotRail, the Class 158 works in tandem with Class 170 and Class 385 traction through the Scottish Lowlands.

A product of the late 1980s, designed to modernise British Rail’s newly sectorised network, the Class 158 was among the higher end of newly introduced ‘Sprinter’ rolling stock; destined to handle regional express work thanks to its longer body profile, 2+2 seating configuration, better sound insulation and higher top speed.

While the Class 158 would go onto become synonymous with regional services throughout the UK, and even see both a popular variant (Class 159) and an export model (Thailand ASR Class) – the fleet entered service first in Scotland in September 1990. Today, ScotRail still make considerable use of the Class 158, having modified, and modernised it over the years. With widespread electrification taking hold, the Sprinter is found in less places than before, but is still a common sight out of Glasgow and Edinburgh for lands afar.

In Train Sim World 4, the Class 158, complete with changes that separate it from its East Midlands counterpart, now compliments the ScotRail roster with timetable and scenario appearances on both the Ediburgh - Glasgow line, as well as with additional scenarios on Fife Circle. Operate additional services out of Glasgow Queen St, and work in tandem with the Class 170 on Firth of Forth operations.

Please Note: For the full experience, we recommend you own Train Sim World 4 Compatible: ScotRail Express: Edinburgh - Glasgow and/or Train Sim World 4: Fife Circle Line which are available as separate purchases.
