Battlefield 6 guide: Best builds and attachments for Season 2's new weapons

Season 2's major new mechanic is VL-7, a psychoactive gas that covers objectives and key choke points on all maps. Chemical warfare drastically alters the flow of matches, and stepping into contaminated areas without a gas mask causes audiovisual hallucinations. You'll have to get up-close-and-personal since the thick gas clouds prevent long-range sniping, too.
Thankfully, each of the new weapons introduced in Battlefield 6 Season 2 can help you fight your way through the fog. The GRT-CPS is a lightweight DMR that'll still let you keep your distance, the VCR-2 assault rifle is designed with close-quarters engagements in mind, and the M121 A2 LMG shreds everything in front of it at close range.

CRT-CPS
While it may not have the highest damage in the DMR class, the CRT-CPS features an impressive 20-round magazine and easily manageable recoil. It also comes with Hollow Point ammunition by default, increasing headshot damage without a lengthy grind.
After you unlock it in the Death Stalkers path of the battle pass, use this build to maximize the power of the CRT-CPS:
- Muzzle: Lightened Suppressor
- Barrel: 16" Basic Rifle
- Sight: BF-2M 2.50x
- Underbarrel: Folding Stubby
- Magazine: 20 RND
- Ammo: Hollow Point
The Lightened Suppressor is a costly attachment at 30 points, but it keeps you hidden without any of the tradeoffs that other silencers come with. It'll also make the weapon's recoil smoother at the cost of hip-fire accuracy—but that's not something you'll be doing with a DMR anyway.
The 16" Basic Rifle barrel is a downgrade from the stock extended barrel, but you won't lose any range. It just affects bullet velocity, which isn't a huge deal in close- and mid-range encounters. Plus, you'll get an even faster transition to ADS with it. It pairs well with the Folding Stubby grip, which also boosts ADS speed.
The default 20-round magazine and Hollow Point ammo are more than good enough for the CRT-CPS. If you're not big on headshots, swap from Hollow Point to FMJ ammo to free up 15 points for other attachments. Finally, you can use whatever sight you like with this DMR, but a 2.5x scope feels like the sweet spot for this gun.
VCR-2
Unlocked at the very end of the Woodland Rangers path on the Battle Pass, the VCR-2 is the standout weapon in Battlefield 6 Season 2. This assault rifle is tied with the KORD 6P67 for the fastest fire rate in its class, and it has even higher damage.
It's very hard to control, but it's an oppressive force in close-quarters combat. Use this build to make the most of the VCR-2's close range power.
- Muzzle: Lightened Suppressor
- Barrel: 20" Marksman Extended
- Underbarrel: Classic Vertical
- Sight: RO-M 1.75x
- Magazine: 30 RND
- Ammo: Standard FMJ
The Classic Vertical attachment will also significantly reduce recoil with some slight penalties to mobility, but it's very much worth the tradeoff. You'll need that recoil control to hit targets at longer distances, a feat made possible by the 20" Marksman barrel attachment. It also helps you aim down sights faster, which is a huge boon for the VCR-2.
Finally, you can use the standard magazine and FMJ ammo with the VCR-2. It's not worth spending valuable points on a larger magazine or a fast mag. As for the optic slot, the RO-M 1.75x is the sweet spot for magnification with a clean sight picture. Feel free to swap it out for another based on personal preference, though.
While you can make the VCR-2 even stronger at long range, it's better to focus on maximizing its CQB potential. If you're looking for something more accurate, just try another assault rifle at that point. This applies even more to REDSEC, where the VCR-2 is better suited as a companion piece to a long-range sniper rifle or DMR.
M121 A2
An LMG may not seem like the most exciting addition, but the M121 A2 has enough going for it to separate the weapon from the rest of Battlefield 6's support guns. It's a close range rapid-fire LMG that shreds anything up close.
Unlocked near the end of the Steel Talons path on the Battle Pass, the M121 A2 excels with these attachments.

- Barrel: 660mm VMW Heavy Extended
- Underbarrel: Stippled Stubby
- Magazine: 50 RND Belt Pouch
- Sight: SU-123 1.50x
- Ammo: Standard FMJ
To give the M121 A2 some extra range and stability, the 660mm VMW Heavy Extended barrel and Stippled Stubby underbarrel are must-haves. The barrel increases the LMG's range and brings it more in line with other weapons in the same class, and the grip significantly reduces overall recoil.
As for ammo, the standard FMJ rounds work just fine with the M121 A2. It's a good idea to swap out the default 50-round drum for the 50 RND Belt Pouch attachment for some reload speed bonuses, however. You're free to use any sight with this gun as well, but the stock SU-123 holographic sight feels great.
These three weapons are just the tip of the iceberg for Battlefield 6 Season 2. There are three phases to this season—the current phase being Extreme Measures—and each phase will bring new content with it. The upcoming Nightfall update will add the CZ3A1 SMG (returning from Battlefield 4) and the VZ.61 sidearm, so the game's arsenal will grow even larger soon.
