Battlefield 6 features a staggering 45 unique weapons at launch, and with the changes to class restrictions, anyone can use any of these guns.

Each weapon can also have radically different performance depending on your chosen set of attachments, transforming short-range carbines into long-range laser beams or giving a long-distance sniper rifle a fighting chance in close quarters engagements. New attachments are dished out slowly in multiplayer, so picking the right weapon and sticking with it is the fastest way to get things unlocked.

Picking a favorite firearm can be overwhelming once the unlocks start to roll in after your first few multiplayer matches, but we've done the hard work for you. These are the best guns in Battlefield 6

Best Assault Rifle

Best assault rifles in Battlefield 6

Assault Rifles are incredibly strong in Battlefield 6, capable of shredding targets at close range while also holding their own at long distances if you can control their recoil. These are the best guns in the Assault Rifle category:

  • M433
  • B36A4
  • AK4D
  • TR-7

The M433 is the starting Assault Rifle, and it remains competitive even after you unlock other weapons in the category. Initially, it's inaccurate and hard to control. Once you get a few Mastery levels under your belt to unlock some attachments, however, it becomes a solid all-around rifle suited for any situation.

The B36A4 shares the M433's versatility, but it performs better at range by default with smoother recoil and a much faster muzzle velocity stat. You can swap the barrel and other attachments around to make it a close-quarters powerhouse, or you can double down on distance shooting by adding underbarrel grips and ergonomic attachments.

The AK4D is one of the most accurate weapons in the entire game. It's designed exclusively for long-range encounters with a slow fire rate and higher damage per shot. Throw on a decent scope and you'll be able to pick foes off from afar. Just make sure to bring a decent sidearm in case you get ambushed at close range.

On the other end of the spectrum is the TR-7, a bullpup rifle that excels at close range. It boasts the same damage per shot as the long-range AK4D, but with a much faster fire rate. You won't be able to hit anything at long distances with it, though.

Best Carbines

Best carbines in Battlefield 6

Carbines bridge the gap between Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns, offering high fire rates and mobility without sacrificing too much range. These are the best Carbines in Battlefield 6:

  • M4A1
  • AK-205
  • QBZ-192
  • SG 553R

The M4A1 is a remarkably reliable Carbine that could easily fit into the Assault Rifle category. It's excellent at close range, but it's surprisingly capable at medium-to-long distances with the right attachments to control its recoil.

The AK-205 is a long-range Carbine similar to the AK4D Assault Rifle. It has a steady fire rate, smooth recoil pattern, but its stopping power suffers compared to other weapons in this category.

The QBZ-192 is one of the game's most versatile Carbines, but you need to complete a challenge to unlock it. After putting in the effort, you'll be rewarded with a fast-firing gun that can shred targets up close while still holding its own at range.

Finally, the SG 553R is one of the strongest Carbines in Battlefield 6 with a whopping 33 damage per shot, matching even the deadliest Assault Rifles. It's not great at long range, but it's highly effective up close. It's also locked behind an in-game challenge, but it's worth the wait.
Best SMG

Best submachine guns in Battlefield 6

Submachine Guns are the weapon of choice for running and gunning, and Battlefield 6 has some small maps where these guns really shine. These are the best SMGs in Battlefield 6:

  • PW5A3
  • PW7A2
  • KV9

The PW5A3 is Battlefield 6's legally distinct version of the classic MP5. With a high fire rate, smooth recoil pattern, and decent damage output, you could do much worse than the PW5A3. Plus, those iron sights are gorgeous.

The PW7A2 is based on another popular real-world SMG: the MP7. This thing can't do anything at long range, but it'll destroy anything you put in front of it up close. It gets even stronger with a bigger magazine attachment to offset its super high rate of fire.

Finally, the KV9 is based on the Vector, another popular SMG that the Battlefield series has quite a history with. This gun has the fastest fire rate in the entire game. It also has a comically tiny magazine, so all of your ammo will be spent in a second. If you can land your shots, though, you'll win the shootout every time.
Best LMG

Best light machine guns in Battlefield 6

With huge magazines and high accuracy, Light Machine Guns are designed to hold choke points and suppress enemy squads. These are the best LMGs in Battlefield 6:

  • L110
  • M/60
  • RPKM

The L110 is the starting LMG, and it remains competitive even at higher ranks. It deals decent damage, has a high rate of fire, and doesn't kick too hard if you stay still. You can even double its mag size with a (pricey) attachment upgrade, helping you keep the enemy team in a constant state of suppression.

The M/60 is a classic LMG that returns in Battlefield 6 with a slow and steady rate of fire, perfect for keeping enemies suppressed. Its bullets also deal more damage than most other LMGs, so you can rack up quite a few kills with this thing on the right maps.

Lastly, the RPKM is another fan-favorite LMG that's really strong in Battlefield 6. Its main weakness is its small magazine size, but it more than makes up for that with its stopping power and versatility.
Best DMR

Best DMRs in Battlefield 6

Designated Marksman Rifles aren't quite fully-fledged Sniper Rifles, but they're still lethal at long distances without sacrificing mobility. These are the best DMRs in Battlefield 6:

  • M39 EMR
  • SVDM

The M39 EMR is the default DMR. It's highly versatile and can be modified to fit any situation, whether that be close-quarters engagements on the frontlines or long-distance sniping to support your allies. It kills in two shots to the head, so it's a versatile weapon if you can aim.

The SVDM is another highly modular DMR that kicks things up a notch with a higher rate of fire and better recoil control. There are dozens of attachments for this thing, and you can even make it into a fully-fledged sniper rifle with the right tweaks.
Best Sniper Rifles

Best sniper rifles in Battlefield 6

Sniper Rifles are perfect for picking off key targets at extreme distances. These are the best Sniper Rifles in Battlefield 6:

  • M2010 ESR
  • PSR

Sniper Rifles are no longer restricted to the Recon class in Battlefield 6, so you can rock weapons like the M2010 ESR with any loadout. This weapon is effective at long distances while still being lightweight, so it's perfect for snipers who like to relocate and keep enemies guessing. Its mobility makes it deadly up close as well, especially if you slap on a canted sight for close-range engagements.

For extreme distances, the PSR has you covered. Locked behind an in-game challenge, this Sniper Rifle has a large magazine and impressive bullet velocity so you can harass targets from super far away. With a Range Finder attached, the PSR is basically a cheat code for snipers.
Best Shotguns

Best shotguns in Battlefield 6

Shotguns are devastatingly powerful at close range, and they're perfect for taking point and leading your squad toward objectives. These are the best Shotguns in Battlefield 6:

  • M87A1
  • 18.5KS-K

Shotguns are surprisingly strong in Battlefield 6, and that includes the default M87A1. It's your standard pump-action Shotgun that you've seen in countless other shooters, but it becomes ridiculously effective at range when you unlock Slugs for it.

The 18.5KS-K is the game's only fully-automatic Shotgun, which makes it one of the strongest weapons in the category by default. It's magazine-fed, so reload times aren't an issue. It may not deal as much damage as its pump-action brethren, but its rapid rate of fire more than makes up for that difference.
Best Secondaries

Best secondaries in Battlefield 6

They may not be as exciting as primary weapons, but a good sidearm can save your life in a pinch. These are the best Secondaries in Battlefield 6:

  • M45A1
  • M44

While the starting pistol is more than enough for most players, the M45A1 is a considerable upgrade. Its damage per shot is a significant improvement over other sidearms. The magazine is small, but you can remedy that with an extended mag attachment.

Finally, the M44 is a powerhouse of a pistol. It's a revolver, so long reload times and slow fire rates are to be expected. However, the M44 deals a whopping 66 damage per shot. On top of that, it has a higher headshot multiplier than other pistols. If you can hit your shots, this hand cannon will serve you well.
