Borderlands 4 release date, Tides of Annihilation reveal, and more

Among the big news was the release date for Borderlands 4, news of a new provocative Arthurian legend action-adventure title, details on the upcoming Sonic racer, and more. Check out the summaries and the trailers directly from the show below.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is coming to PC this year
We finally got our first deep look at the next Sonic racing game.
The State of Play gave us a healthy dose of gravity-defying, weapon-laced hedgehog racing. According to the store page for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the game will have you racing across land, sea, air, space, and time, warping through Travel Rings into new dimensions.
The page also says the game will include solo and team racing in both online and offline modes. Finally, the game will let you “Build the ultimate machine to match your racing style, unlock special gadgets to gain the upper hand, and unleash power-up items for the win!”
There isn’t much more we know about it right now, like the release date, but we do know that it looks spectacular.

Borderlands 4 gets a release date
It’s official: the colorful, bloody, and colorfully bloody shooter Borderlands 4 comes to the Epic Games Store this September.
Precisely, the latest title in the franchise hits all platforms worldwide on Sept. 23.
The game was first revealed at last year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live. It popped up again at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, where the developers said it would be the best Borderlands game to date.

Tides of Annihilation looks like a gorgeous, trippy journey through Arthurian legend
Tides of Annihilation debuted, which appears to be tapping into some of the elements of Arthurian legend to tell a modern and provocative story.
The game takes place in a shattered modern London that has been warped by the apocalyptic Outworld invasion, and on the mythical isle of Avalon, according to developer Eclipse Glow Studio. Players take on the role of Gwendolyn, who discovers the power to command the legendary Knights of the Round Table and sets out to save her sister and seek revenge.
It includes a “Spectral Knight Dual-Fighting," which allows players to customize devastating combos with spectral knights in frenetic high-speed battles. There are also colossal knights roaming the city that will have you scaling and fighting these massive creations across London in vertical, interconnected challenges. Finally, the devs say there will be more than 30 unique boss fights, including demi-gods inspired by the lore of the Knights of the Round Table. (Did someone say the Green Knight???)
If you’re not currently versed in Arthurian lore, Gwendolyn was, in some cases, considered the wife of Merlin. Avalon is the mythical island where Excalibur was made and where Arthur was taken to recover from grievous wounds.
It looks like Tides of Annihilation will also have you unraveling the mysteries of this version of Gwendolyn as well.
There is no release date yet, but we’re told it’s coming “soon.”
Days Gone is getting surprise DLC
Days Gone Remastered is arriving on the PlayStation 5, but much more importantly for us PC gamers, a new DLC is coming to PC.
The Broken Road DLC hits on April 25 and includes quite a bunch of tweaks and add-ons:
- Horde Assault – A survival arcade mode
- Permadeath mode
- Speedrun mode
- DualSense haptic feedback support (but this requires keeping your DualSense plugged into your PC)
- New Accessibility features
- Enhanced Photo Mode
Splitgate 2 is getting an open alpha
Splitgate 2's surprise open alpha will run from Feb. 27 through March 2 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, according to developers 1047 Games.
The open alpha will include two 24-player multi-team portal modes, Domination and Hotzone, featuring three teams of eight. There will also be two new game modes. In Splitball, two teams will try to steal Splitballs to return to their base for scoring. Think of it as Capture the Flag meets Halo's Oddball. Firecracker mode is a bit like Call of Duty's Search & Destroy but with respawns and an objective that has you trying to light off fireworks instead of detonating a bomb.
The alpha will also include three new maps: 8v8v8 Glacier, which is frozen and twenty times the size of any other map in the game; the 4v4 Bypass, which is the game's most vertical map; and the 4v4 Eden, which is packed with portal walls and new launch portal.
The Splitgate 2 alpha will include eight unique primary and secondary weapons across three factions, for a total of 24 base firearms as well as some power weapons hidden on the maps.
Finally, both Team Deathmatch and Hotzone are returning with improvements based on community feedback. In Team Deathmatch, the rounds have been extended, and a higher kill target has been implemented. In Hotzone, there is no long shared progression on captures.
