Kicking off just before the 2026 World Cup, GOALS is a free-to-play soccer game with esports and team-building at its core. From quick kickabouts to developing talented youngsters into club legends, GOALS is a competitive, skill-based football experience where every match, player, and decision helps shape a team that's uniquely yours.

A game of GOALS resembles a typical game of football: 11 players a side, each person controlling their own team. A flowing football game where the importance of the squad plays a huge part in if their passes are perfect and how powerful their shots are. And that squad is wholly yours. Take pride in it!

Each player in your squad is unique to you, with a spread of ever-evolving stats that you can build upon as you play.  Basics like Shooting have a number of sub-stats, like Attacking IQ, Shot Power, Weak Foot, and more. The more you play, the more you can build on those stats (and loads more), giving you a real sense of ownership of your player’s progression. With such a raft of options, and without recognizable players, it should help avoid all-conquering metas developing. After all, your team’s tactics will be based around the unique spread of skills that you’ve developed, not a generic plan of attack that can be applied to every situation.

Players will have ‘Potential’ ratings that they will grow towards with each game played. XP is applied at the club level, meaning even those on the bench will gain from playing. Uniquely to GOALS, your players will age as they play, too. Like real-world players, players will grow better the more they play, but they’ll eventually reach retirement age. From there, you can swap them for rewards, sell them for in-game points, or convert them to Legends. You can then keep them and use them in certain modes where Legends are allowed.

Competitive play is one of GOALS’ most important, well, goals. Both Friendlies and Quickplay modes will let you enjoy unranked games against friends or strangers, and you’ll earn Match Points and XP while having a relaxed game or ten.

But for those who want a real test, Ranked uses a matchmaking rank (MMR) that will test your team to its limit. Aside from the rewards gained from wins, draws, and even losses, you’ll be battling it out for a place on the top 500 global leaderboard. Tournaments will also allow you to enjoy some high stakes matches for big rewards, while being built around unique rules like age restrictions or player ratings. You might learn something about your team you didn’t know during a tournament.

Knockout is where the highest rewards will be found. Running from Friday 9:00 CET to Monday 9:00 CET, you progress through different levels before, hopefully, reaching the knockout stage of the tournament.

There will be recognizeable faces here and there. "Originals" will be real-world talent appears as themselves, but evolving as you play, meaning that even Originals will be unique to your team.  Influencer and football fan KSI is the first Original and will be available at launch.

GOALS is a well-timed entry into the beautiful game, and it’s out now on Epic Games Store. Don’t pass it up.
